It's when they take your gold medal and refuse you bread that really hurts.

As long as I get to keep my Toys for Joy 1988 Nintendo Olympics First Place in Track and Field Trophy... I'm sure I'll survive.   It might be tough... but I'll manage.

Did you actually get a physical trophy?

Unlike the Oscars... my trophies are not made out of chocolate. :(

And yeah, I got an actual trophy.  But the thing cost maybe 67 cents to make.  It was some promotional event Nintendo did with Bradlees... you went in and did some stuff on the Power Pad and they tallied your results.   I came in 1st place for the region, I guess, in Track and Field's Long Jump... and about a week later got a phonecall to come in and get my Trophy.  So I went in 3 days later and picked it up.  Some some other kids too getting them for other categories.  I believe Red was 1st, Blue was 2nd and Green was 3rd.

And now for no reason at all, I present my copy of the NES game "Commando"...

Track and Field, for NES... used the Power Pad as well as the controller.

That thing was sweet! Nice trophy.

A friend of mine won a Super Nintendo and a shirt for getting a high score in Super Mario World at a both at a fair.  We used to call him "Super Nintendoooooh".

In OAC I won a Super Mario bros. 1 best score in 5 minutes contest and in doing so go a book, a CD and some movie passes. My name was said on the school announcements in the morning and I got razzed for it all day. I kept my gaming skills on the DL a bit more in high school.

Sweetness.

I guess my only other claim to fame gaming moment was X-Play sending me some G4 swag and an autographed photo from Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb.

Of course... that was back when G4 had something to do with Videogames, and didn't totally suck monkey testicles.

That's sad. The trophy I won when my little league soccer team swept the entire season is just a piece of fake-black-marble plastic base with a plastic pedistal and soccer ball painted gold.

That article about the streaker says the Athen games were in 2002... wtf?

And G4 always sucked.

I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

That trophy is awesome and would probably fetch a princely sum on E-bay.
