It's now a Cat 4 and heading for Cancun I think. But earlier it was cat 5, had 180mph winds, and the lowest pressure of any hurricane ever (882mb).

And it may hit Florida next, or it will tell the weathermen to fuck off and go another direction, like at New Orleans again, or Texas.

I'm going to start digging a bunker now.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Well, Wilbur (Was that it?) in 1925 had 888MB!

Anyway, my mother's going to Florida on Saturday.

She's going to die.
10,000 steps down, round and round. One night on the town and I'm hellbound ... Black oceans beneath, come and swallow me. My little tower, seal my fate. Help me pay back, end their hate. Black oceans beneath, come and swallow me

I don't think BUSH is responsible for Mother Nature tossing hurricanes around.

We're pretty safe after October 15.  The cold fronts start coming in and the pressure steers storms away, plus the cooler water doesn't feed them.  You could practically boil eggs in the Gulf in August/September, which made Katrina & Rita such bitches.

Highs are now in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s at night, and should stay this way until we have our "cold" days of about 60s & 40s in January, then back to the former until early May.  This is the time of year when I love where we live.  :D

You know I was thinking that if I ever made it big with my writing and money wasn't an issue anymore, I think I'd like to live in Texas.

Not as close to the coast as Houston, but someplace southern devoid of natural disasters that have very mild winters. I'l tired shitty as cold weather.....don't mind the snow, but I hate the cold.

I hear you.  If only it didn't come with holidays attached.  Can't have everything I guess....

And why does D need a bunker?  Aren't you in Michigan?  Rita's not gonna jump in the Great Lakes.  Your worries are more the variety of snow, air pollution, and prison.

IIRC, Faye, you're not too fond of cold weather - how'd you end up going to school in Philly?

October-December and March-May are the best months for Texas.  January & February tend to be a little Seattle-ish, but right now it's about 62 F, cloudless sky & gorgeous.  I won a portable DVD player last week at our employee appreciation party (just a Nexxtech, but hey, it was free) so I tried it out in the hammock yesterday instead of doing anything vaguely productive.  B)

Bah it's like 36 degrees here right now! And January and Feb fuck you're luck if you're not shoveling snow, and if your not  you are frezzeing your nuts off in 14 degree weather. What sucks is just 4 hours to the south in LIttle Rock where my Cousin lives, it like never snows. We are right where the hot winds off of the Gulf of Mexico and the cold winds off Canada hit each other. So it produces some werid weather. Like Monday last weak it was 89 degrees, today it's the aforementioned 36.
