What to rent at blockbuster
« on: Aug 03, 2005, 10:43:36 PM »
I got some free rentals at Blockbuster for filling out a survey. Should I bother renting Alexander now that it's FINALLY out and I never wanted to waste 9 bucks in the theater to see it? Or is there something better I should rent?
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Don't waste your money if you want something like braveheart.

Now if you wanna watch something that would make Queer Eye look straight, then get Alexander. MAN LOVE!!!
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

Waste money? How can I waste money if I get FREE RENTALS?

And megs, I've never heard of any of those  :blink:

I have no desire to rent anything right now, and I have no idea what I'd want to rent if I did.

You haven't heard of Hitch?  I'm pretty sure it's got Eva Longoria.

Seven Samurai is a pretty famous film by Akira Kurosawa. When they remade it in America they changed the Samurai to cowboys and it become The Magnificent Seven.

Hitch is Will Smith's latest Train Wreck, and also co-Stars Kevin James of "King of Queens." It also was spawning point of the song "Switch" which you I cannot seem to get away from.

Ghost Dog was what I believe to be a direct to video movie staring Forest Whitaker. Can't say much about it as I only saw the trailer attached to another movie I rented, but since I never rented it I must not have been to impressed by it. I really only remember Forrest from Fast Time and Ridgemont High, and North and South. .....Oh and that shitpile of a movie Battlefield: Earth. You owe eight bucks L.Ron Huburd!

The other two I have no clue about.

:angry:

I thought that Hitch movie sounded familiar. How do you expect me to take Meg's suggestions seriously when he suggests some crap with Will Smith in it, and a movie that reminds Rama of Battlefield: Earth?

So I rented Alexander and it's full of guys piercing each other.....

....with swords and spears, of course! But there is gay stuff in it too. It's the "Director's Cut" which means they butchered it worse than St*r WarzzZZ. I haven't seen the movie version so who knows if the change is an improvement. But the DVD had no extras that might have redeemed it.

I wanted to rent Princess Bride, but Blockbuster was lacking. There was Princess Diaries and a shitty sequel in it's place. I can't believe they didn't have a Princess Bride DVD there!

"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You have failed to carry a copy of Princess Bride on DVD. Prepare to die."

That's a movie so classic you must own it.

Blockbuster is so concerned with getting the new movies in that they forget there where movies made before 1995. When I wanted to rent and watch Casblanca again, they didn't have it. Which is a movie crime that should be punishable by death.

I don't know...Zoolander was pretty much a waste of film. Stiller has much better films out there. (Meet the Parnets, Mystery Men.)

And while I agree that Grosse Pointe Blank deserves that spot more then Zoolander, I still think there are movies better then GPB that should have that spot. Hell I can name a couple other Cusack films that should be there instead of GPB. Like "Say Anything." and "High Fidelity". I even thought Pushing Tin was better then GPB, and it stars two people I really don't care for. (Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie. Although Bad News Bears looks pretty good)

If I was going to suggest a movie to rent, I'd say the 1995 verison of "The Quick and the Dead."

Hmm, now that I've returned Alexander, I think I got some ideas for other ones to rent....

Kung Fu Hustle, never seen it.
Labyrnth, haven't seen it since I was a kid
Mystery Men because Rama mentioned it and I've never seen it.

I rented Ben Hur but that was from the Library so it was free. Widescreen 2-sided DVD :D

I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Not only was it lame, unfunny and gay, but it also spawned one of the most godawful and overplayed pieces of garbage ever--All Star by Smash Mouth...  I know you like to say that there's no such thing as "bad music" Megs, but try and defend that shit.
