That article was really... ugh. No, Batman doesn't have to be white. No, Superman doesn't have to be white. No, Diana doesn't have to be white. "Diana is Mediterranean, which counts as Caucasian for these purposes." YUCK. Fucking YUCK. I'd say if those characters and Aquaman have any primary characteristic that can't be overriden, it would be their genders. Admittedly, Superman might be trickier to racebend given he lands in whitebread whitey-Kansas, but I could easily picture Batman Latino and Aquaman Asian. One's in a major metropolitan city and the other's in the fuckin' ocean. They could be anything. And Diana could easily have darker coloring than what she gets typically fancasted as. Not everyone in Greece is lily-white. She could be black. Africa is right fucking below Greece for crying out loud. I find it interesting how much they wanted to tool around with Flash and Cyborg when those are actually the ones I'd do nothing to myself. That they didn't want to touch the main trinity in particular is EXACTLY why nothing's diverse enough to begin with.

A more realistic superman would look like the aliens in what's it called...the alien prequel...those jacked up pale bald guys. It's kind of ridiculous to think that life evolved to look exactly like us on another planet.

Yeah Diana could be olive skinned, that would make more sense.

I don't think Batman HAS To come from old money though. That was an old idea...Thomas Wayne could have made his millions in Oil, or other investments in the 80s and then turned that into the huge company. Most of the people on Forbes list these days don't come old money anymore. They are either self made or come from self made people like Sam Walton. Old Money is an outdated concept. And if he doesn't come from Old Money, he could be anymore.

As for Superman, I know a few white couples that have adopted African American kids. (In fact one of my best friends did that) and so I don't think that would be beyond Ma and Pa Kent to do the same, nor would in be something so strange in the last 30 years.

Of course in Batman and Superman's case I'm assume they are around the age of 33 right now. A 70 year old Batman would be different.

Wonder Woman should be Greek...but back in the day Greece covered a lot of area. But she is Amazon and the Amazons where said to live anywhere from modern day Ukraine, to Asia Minor, to Libya. So who knows what she would look like.

By Aquaman's very nature he is interracial. Being half Atlantean. But really the origin of his human parent could have been anyone.

Well no one HAS to be from anything. They could rewrite the entire justice league to be Australian Aborigines. My point is that sometimes people who cry WAHHHHH this isn't diverse enough are quick to dismiss any white cultural tropes like coming from old money.

He does not have to be white or old money. If you asked people if Bruce Wayne was old money, most of them would not know. They know he's a rich, resourceful vigilante. They know Batman has a certain look. A man does not have to be white to pull off that look. But relax because Hollywood's not that reasonable so it'll never happen anyway.

Because I never felt any kinship with any kind of fictional hero. I was always rooting for the villains. Megatron was my childhood hero.

I always identified with Spider-Man, and the older I get the more it happens. Except I never got to bang a red headed super model....that part kinda skipped over me. Oh and the super powers...mainly just the being piss ass poor and having the worst luck in the universe. That part Peter Parker and I have in common.

I was the same and now with the popularity of anti-heroes, I think the bar got pushed on the villains and they're not as likable as they used to be. Also, villains actually have the same diversity issues heroes do.

I'd think villains would be a tad more universal since they're more often some kind of alien monster, permanently masked or even never have their appearance fully revealed
