So, Scott Peterson's going to be executed.

What do you guys think about this? Do you think he should have gotten Life, or Death?

My answer to that is based on the fac that I've pretty much opposed the Death Penality for a while now. I was actually shocked when I heard that capital punishment was legal for people under 18, a policy that was made illegal by the Supreme Court this week, and none too soon. Executing people who did crimes when they were under 18, even if the crime was really fucked up, is just fucked.

I've just been generally opposed to the barbaric practice of execution. The whole thing is just so the victim's family can get their "revenge", an eye for an eye. It's like the victim's family can't relax until the guy's burning in hell, whereas I don't give a fuck if most of the people given death sentences hang or not. Coupled with the stories of innocents being executed then finding DNA evidence finding them innocent, and the whole thing seems stupid.

Indeed it is. I am personally opposed to all forms of the death penalty with the lone exception of desertion during wartime.

Death is actually less barberic than life in prison. Yeah, he knows when he's going to die, but he won't have to worry about shit like rape--not to mention that he'll get a pussy death--he won't feel a thing. In prison, he could get AIDs or a brick over the head--that and if he ever saw parole, he'd be a frail old bum when he got out. Anyway who cares what treatment criminals get? Why do they even deserve mercy when they've refused to show it? But that's a whole 'nother can of worms...

I've never seen the death penalty so much as "eye for an eye", but more like preventing the sicko from ever committing the crime ever again. That, I'm for. I can't call myself well-versed on this case, but I don't think Dean Cain (ha ha) is a continual threat to society. He probably just got death because it's a dumb high-profile case (for whatever reason). I never got why I'm suppose to give a damn about Laci Peterson more so than any other victimized preggers woman.

In fact it was reported on CNN.com that two women called the jail seeking to marry him!

I wish liberals never got a say in the penalty. If the death penalty was a thing to be feared, people would be less apt to commit crimes in today's world. Not only that, but just beheading someone without question would be very, very cheap. Granted, the investigations would have to be far more involved inorder to prove the party guilty.

I wouldn't go THAT far, but the way we treat criminals in this country is outrageous. They have fucking cable TV and videogames in PRISON--there's just nothing right about that. The whole point of jail is to not want to be there--to want to go back and behave--not be treated like a child in timeout. Yeah, there are bad aspects to prison, very bad aspects, but we LET people become like that in jail--no penalties for gangs, prison rape, etc.

I'm all for the Death penalty. I'm of the mind that the United States should be more like Texas and USE THE GOD DAMN DEATH PENALTY MORE OFTEN. Jesus. Lethal injection my ass. You shoot someone in the head with a high enough caliber they aren't going to feel that much before their head explodes.

Well, it comes down to the fact that the state charges outrageous amounts for material--for example asprin in hospital add $65 on to a bill. I can only assume it costs somewhere in the lower thousands for all the material to do a letal injection... Granted in would only cost less than a hundred to do it practically...

Yes. Most of the time, you label death row inmates, serial killers, murders, and other criminals "monsters" or "evil" or "bad", when you should label them "human".

All humans have the capability to kill one another, we get it from our animal side. Look at animals in the wild, killing each other for mates or territory.

I know other groups of people who have labeled others "monsters" or "evil". The christians labeling the muslums during the crusades, Hitler labeling the Jews, the terrorist labeling Americans....

The death penalty exists merely as a deterrent for commiting crimes. If the deaths were brutal, cruel and unusual, it would better serve its purpose. Shame. As for labeling criminals, its a farcry from the innocent being labeled. Wait until you're getting "bass taped", I'm sure you'll be calling them "fellow humans".
