In the year 300X AD, the age in which Earth was to be ruled by the Margarita Empire had come. The emperor, Tsuru Tsururiina IV, in order to make everyone in the world be bald, sent out an army of hair hunters. Hair hunting was going on all over the place.

Even today, Hair Hunter Block G under squad leader Pikari was rampaging through a village. One after another, they attacked the villagers and used their "hair cutting martial arts" and cut off everyone's hair. Meanwhile, a little girl named Beauty was watching these events unfold. However, she was found by Pikari. She had her hair almost taken when a whip like thing came flying and took Pikari down. Beauty was somehow able to get away. That long whip was actually a long nose-hair controlled by a man named Bo~bobo Bobobo~bo.

I don't watch CN anymore, really.

IGPX: Didn't they air this 2 years ago?

Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: *projectile vomit*

One Piece:
I was pissed off when I found out 4kids had the rights to this and was broadcasting it on their sunday morning cartoon block. Now CN has it?

Naruto: Not suprised. I can only imagine what they'll do to it though. Does this mean that Funimation has picked it up, or (god willing) some better company?

Quote
Code LYOKO: Cartoon Network has acquired 26 additional episodes of the animated series that blends traditional 2D and 3D animation.  Code LYOKO tells the story of a group of students who uncover a parallel digital world named LYOKO that is threatened by a deadly virus that could ultimately destroy Earth.
Don't tell me this is another obscure and sucky anime that no true fan would touch with a 20 foot stick?

Quote
Cartoon Network, currently seen in 87.3 million U.S. homes and 160 countries around the world, is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s 24-hour, ad-supported cable service offering the best in animated entertainment.
Not suprised about such praise since article is by Turner themselves.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

What's New
February 16, 2005:

THE HORROR, THE HORROR: Today's Wall Street Journal includes a terrifying story about the "extreme makeover" planned for the classic Warner Bros. characters. Excerpts:

"Hoping to breathe new life into its animated Looney Tunes franchise and prop up the WB television network's slumping Kids' WB line-up, Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Bros. is planning to launch a new cartoon series this fall based on 're-imagined' versions of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tasmanian Devil, Lola Bunny, Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.

"Warner Bros. has created angular, slightly menacing-looking versions of the classic Looney Tunes characters for its new series, dubbed 'Loonatics' and set in the year 2772. Names for the new characters haven't been finalized, but they are likely to be derived from the originals: Buzz Bunny, for example. Each new character retains personality quirks of the original. The new Bugs, for example, will be the natural leader of the Loonatics' spaceship; the new Daffy will remain confident that he is the one who should be in charge. ...

"'The new series will have the same classic wit and wisdom, but we have to do it more in line with what kids are talking about today,'says Sander Schwartz, president of Warner Bros. Animation. The plots are action-oriented, filled with chases and fights. Each character possesses a special crime-fighting powet.

"Sounds familiar? The format echoes a successful show Warner Bros. launched in 2003 on its WB network and Cartoon Network called 'Teen Titans,'about five teenage superheroes. The series, featuring dark, futuristic characters, based on such DC Comics personalities as Robin the Boy Wonder, quickly became a hit. It ranked No. 26 among kids programs for the fourth quarter last year. ...

"Given Warner's mixed track record over the past two decades with the Looney Tunes franchise, advertisers may be wary. Steven Spielberg sparked things up in the early 1990s with 'Tiny Toons,' a series in which new characters interacted with the originals. But a 2002 effort, 'Baby Looney Tunes,'has been a dud for the Cartoon Network, where it ended the fourth quarter ranked No. 104 among kids programs."

It isn't just advertisers who will be wary

Gee, lemme think. My anime club voted for it two years in a row, the frickin manga are everywhere including online, and um...

What do you think? It stinks, it's DBZ just with headbands. And from what I've heard the anime is just as bad as DBZ. At least Toriyama did good with DB.

I thought Duck Dodgers was pretty good despite the fact that it was different from the shorts that inspired it.

What the fuck? Duck Dodgers is GODLY. Pull your head out of your polyp-ridden ass!

And the only thing that could possibly be cooler than this Loonatics idea is if they turned the LT characters into a bunch of headband-wearing ninjas. Now that, my friends, would be truly awesome.

The Duck Dodgers shorts were godly.  That series is a big stinking pile.  And whoever wrote that article needs to commit sepuku for mentioning TTA and Baby Looneycrap in the same breath.  TTA was a hilarious piece of brillance.  Watching a bunch of babies prattle around and bitch about tattle tales and sharing is hideously boring and unfunny.  I can't imagine anyone over five sitting through an entire episode of that w/o blowing their brains out.

I'll reserve judgement on the Loonatics until I get a better look at the overall concept.  My only problem with it so far:  Lola Bunny.  Lola Bunny sucks a giant singing turd.

We're talking about new episodes for TT, JLU, the dumb Ed show, the Grim Adv. of Billy and Mandy, Codename Brats Nextdoor, and Duck Dodgers.

Then Toe brought up Loonatics, reimagined versions of WB characters, and a related article.

And apparently Viz got Naruto and that and One Piece will be airing on CN.

That's what we're talking about.

Loonatics was on TV this morning.  Not like the actual show, but they were talking about it on the news.  "I don't like that sort of animation."  "Is that like that Yu-gi-oh?"  Har-har.  They showed them all, but I couldn't really pay that much attention to it.  Bascially they all looked as f-ed up as Bugs, but I'm sure you knew that.

Hanage Shinken Ougi isn't part of the title, toe. It's just the phrase he calls out before using one of his fighting techniques. It translates to True Fist of the Nose Hair, or something. It's similar to that Squidbillies short in that it pokes fun at fighting shows and anime in general, yes.

Anyway, after seeing this I'm a little let down. Bugs looked cool, but when I see that they all share the same basic design, it becomes obvious that all they did was take everyone and stuff them into a bunch of Batman Beyond suits. Not so cool anymore. And why is it they can all fly unaided but the Wile E. Coyote character needs a rocket pack? Oh, I see -- it's an amusing little reference to how he was always using gadgets in the old show. Ahahahaha. Only not. <_<

How long have SMAP been around? Shouldn't they be getting prohibitively old by now? Or do they constantly swap in younger members?
