ok so as you know, im in peru right now. I have a cingular phone and i decided to bring it here to peru. then here i bought a chip from a cell company here named TIM. i wanted ot know if anyone of you know if they charge me from using other chip (not from cingular) in another country??

Probably, though maybe not. If you signed up with another company and your phone is a diff. number you shouldn't be charged.

The chip is what contains the actual program. Since I am using my phone, I dunno what it's called exactly. If you get a new phone you have to make sure the chip isin, behind the battery.

I was for some reason thinking of that GPS chip that tracks you.

It my understanding that this chip is to make free calls. Is that correct?

no, it just contains the info from the company you buy that chip from so you can make calls and that company will charge you
