The court said the city illegally issued the certificates and performed the ceremonies, since state law defined marriage as a union between a man and woman.

The justices separately decided with a 5-2 vote to nullify the 3,995 marriages peformed between Feb. 12 and March 11, when the court halted the weddings. Their legality, Justice Joyce Kennard wrote, must wait until courts resolve the constitutionality of state laws that restrict marriages to opposite-sex couples.

I dreamed that Eddie & I answered some questionnaire after we got married that was supposed to be for a vacation drawing or some shit & one of the questions was, "When do you plan to start have children?" Of course, we said never. Segue' in the dream to us being hauled out of bed that night by the (I think) Republican Purification Commission & put into prison camps for a "false pretense marriage". It was me & CN on the sofa for the rest of *that* night.

The whole "defense of marriage" spiel is a crock of shit. If this administration was so fucking concerned about the "purity of marriage" they'd quit worrying about 2 seconds of Janet Jackson's tit and have the FCC go after shows like Temptation Island. Gay marriage is considered wrong by fundies because it cannot produce children within that dynamic. Bottom line is that conservatives know that saddling women down with children is the best way to control them, plus it creates plenty of poor white & minority cannon fodder for the upcoming draft. Rich boys can kick back in the National Guard.

Score for the gay haters! This is why we need stem cells. A gay man could use stem cells to change his sex so the can procreate and the "straights" cant say anything cause the gay person is now straight too and once we are all straight there will be no more hate and we can all ge talong.

Gay men are still men and they want to be gay with other men.
And they can still procreate, it would just take a serrogate mother willing to give up her seedling or they could adopt, if the state they reside in allows it.

A lot of people say they think 'I hate gays' which many of them do, but quite a few of them, like my parents for instance, feel it's just the sanctity of marriage they're protecting. I say let 'em do whatever the hell they want.

If they really belived what they said then they would void every marriage not sactified in a church and do away with divorces.

Marriage needs to be far more difficult to do... for everyone. As does having kids, owning pets, driving, and owning a firearm. These people that get married for a week or a year and then expect it all to disappear... the Britney Spearses, and Mario Lopezes, and the J-Los make me ill. If anyone's attacking the idea of marriage it's those disgusting people.
