Oh, and I saw the domestic violence episode of "Family Guy" because I curious about what all of these websites were bitching about. WOW. I didn't think it "went too far", it just wasn't fuckin' funny. It was just a bland, joke-less episode. The one time I laughed was at the Iraq lobster and Peter already sung "Rock Lobster" all fucked up before, so we were basically getting a recycled joke.

That Family Guy episode was the last straw for me. It tries so damned hard to be offensive, and forgets it's supposed to be making jokes. There's "Oh hey this is taboo and we're poking fun at it, can you believe we went there?" which is a little funny, and then there's an entire 30 minute episode dedicated to consistantly making jokes about spousal abuse. Yeah we get it, you're trying to be offensive, now stop killing cats and fuck right off the air already.

Allan Gregory is better than any of that shit.

I think they made it funny with the whole Horton Hears Domestic Violence In The Next Apartment and Doesn't Call 911. Or whatever that was called.

Short, a bit uncomfortable, but it had Horton and it satirized the whole "this is bad but I'm more uncomfortable than concerned" thing. A 30-sec segment was funnier than an entire episode on the subject. Less is more.

I don't know if I would go as far as "hack" but, to me anyway, it seemed her earlier work like Lum and Maison Ikkoku was more distinctive than the later major work she's done which apparently stars the same boy and girl among other characters. I know some of her other works have similar parallels but Ranma & Inuyasha are the two I'm most familiar with... It certainly didn't help that some people were casted in the English dub of Inuyasha that had played similar characters in Ranma 1/2.

DAMNIT Nuri I just posted something in another thread about this same thing! But in M.I. she has almost the same characters too, even a female Ranma!
