Trailer for unneccessary remake reinvisioning.

feature=related

Doesn't look bad, actually.  TOO BAD I'VE ALREADY SEEN THIS MOVIE.cfv;lfm  And, shit, new Lisbeth looks creepy.  Must be the lack of eyebrows.  Last two are original Lisbeth for comparison's sake.  At least the director or whoever went in another direction for her look but damn.... It's not a good sign imo if she keeps being sexualized in all of the publicity shots (pics 2, 3, & 4).  Lisbeth was about empowerment dammit.

Ugh. Someone interviewed that Mara chick about how the fans were scratching their heads over the sexified promotional material, and she was all, "I don't know what their problem is, Lisbeth is a strong woman and those photos are powerful and provocative."

It's like she didn't have a fucking clue.

Heh, well I thought by her eyes that no one was home and now I know for sure.

And semi-related...

From here:

Quote
While the nakedness and objectification of Salander in this poster has been discussed all over the ‘net, I also want to talk about how Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) is portrayed here. The character is anything but an action star, yet the first thing this poster screams to me is that the movie completely changes his personality. The way he’s grabbing Salander is utterly contradictory to the kind of person he is. And that look on his face… Never, while reading the books, did I ever picture Blomkvist with that kind of look. He’s a laid-back, fairly easygoing journalist who just happens to stumble upon a mysterious atrocity.

You’d never be able to tell that this poster is for a movie that speaks out about violence against women. Plus, the artwork takes the most caring male character in the series and makes him look like just another sexually driven thug.

And a comment:

Quote
Got to disagree about the Dragon Tattoo poster…that totally fits her character. Yes, she’s an empowered woman, and among that empowerment (both in that poster and in the book itself) is sexual liberation. Some may see it as a marketing ploy, but it’s one that DOES fit the character.

Ugh.  This poster and none of those pics up there are empowering or "sexually liberating", especially when the character would never do any of that shit.  It might as well be a Calvin Klein ad.

Also... SADDLE BAG FACE.  There's no way to deny it with that poster.  No way.

This falls along the lines of if I feel bad for Sly Stone. I might end up seeing some of these movies one day...I might not. I don't really care either way. I might still read the book, but I don't seem to be tripping over myself to do that either.

A lot of people agree with you but I hope they just go buy the song and let this movie go fuck itself.

Ugh, it feels like my genitals just reverted back into my pelvis.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Not like that. Fuck it, whatever.

This chick here is scaring me, though. I'm not particularly fond of Rihanna, either.

Noomi Rapace Re-Teaming with 'Dragon Tattoo' Director for Thriller
01 Nov 2011
By Brent Lang at TheWrap

Noomi Rapace will re-team with Niels Arden Oplev, the Danish director who guided her career-making performance as the prickly hacker at the center of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

Rapace will star in the thriller "Dead Man Down," IM Global announced on Tuesday.

She will be joined by Colin Farrell, who is experiencing something of a career resurgence of late thanks to a funny supporting part in last summer's "Horrible Bosses" and a starring role in next summer's "Total Recall."  (Wh-wh-WHAT?  Not sure if want.)

Although she had to cede the role of Lisbeth Salander to Rooney Mara in the English-language remake of "Dragon Tattoo,"...

(No, she didn't.  They didn't want her and she didn't want to do it again anyway.)

...Rapace has kept busy. She is starring in December's "Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows" and will appear in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus," releasing in June 2012.

IM Global will fully finance the $30 million movie. Neal H. Moritz’s Original Film will produce alongside J.H. Wyman of Frequency Films.

Farrell will play the right-hand man to an underground crime lord in New York City who is seduced and blackmailed by Beatrice (Rapace), a crime victim seeking retribution, according to a synopsis supplied by IM Global.  (Half of that sounds good but Rapace as a seductress?  How does that work?)

The film is scheduled to start shooting in early 2012.

IM Global will be selling the film at AFM.

Wait. Didn't they JUST finish up some movies based on the book trilogy and they're ALREADY doing a remake?

Welp, this is proof the end is neigh. The time Hollywood waits to do a remake has gone from no sooner than the 80s-90s to "if it's a year old it's fair game to be remade." I'd say we're screwed in 2012.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

There's a line of clothing "inspired" by Lisbeth's "style".  Bleh.  Talk about missing the point.  She's a goth-looking chick who wears black pants, boots, jackets, shirts, and hoodies covering her entire body.  That's it.  No fancy crotch-pants, hipsters, or safety-pin shit like they're doing with this movie.  And sure as hell no ass and titties hanging out.
