Voltron Force
« on: May 17, 2011, 12:08:50 AM »
How is it that Pidge got hotter and Princess Allura got uglier?  What kind of world do we live in?  Lotor also got uglier.  Well, he got a promotion AND he got uglier.  Or better-looking if the 3rd Dimension is still burned into your brain.

Oh, wait, that's not Lotor.  That's Lord Oberon from Gargoyles.  I've inexplicably mixed them up.  Somehow.

Cartoons these days are spread across way too many specialty channels.

Yeah no kidding. Nicktoons is in the highest channel package on Dish. So this is another thing I don't get to see, just like anything on the HUB. Yet I still get G4, which I'm pretty much tired of at this point.

Animation duties are probably being farmed out to cheaper and cheaper production companies.

Because kids don't notice that shit.

That's not accurate.

Animation companies don't THINK kids notice that shit.

Oh, well. Another show I'll watch via torrents because of shitty network commitments.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Why are cartoons getting uglier?

I assume because it's supposed to be easier to animate or whatever by being all cheapo on the design.  I'm getting really tired of all of the shit getting uglier myself.  Princess Allura has a Xenomorph head for crying out loud.  Voltron gets uglier, Thundercats gets uglier, Transformers got uglier, Batman got uglier [re:Brave and the Bold, and yes that's just imo], Biker Mice got uglier [even the bikes got uglier, gah!], Ninja Turtles got uglier by the end of its own revival run.  The MOTU reboot is the only remake/relaunch I can think of in the last ten years that didn't get all fugly.  Here's an idea, folks: go back to 13-episode first seasons make half as many nice-looking episodes.  I've rather have 13 good-looking Voltron Force episodes than the 26-logs of crap we're liking to see coming down the pipe.

They did a new Biker Mice from Mars? Why was I not informed?

And MOTU is the only one in that list that got BETTER looking.

You missed nothing.  Instead of looking buff and tought, they made all three mice skinny and flat-looking.  They cut Charley's hair and changed her voice actress. (Not to mention they NEVER even drew her tits right.  LOL  Huh?).  They made Throttle's rad Harley-type bike BRIGHT GREEN and made Modo's a fuggin' trikey.  They also decided to go electronic with the theme music.  And that was just the beginning really.  The only thing spot-on were the three main voice actors who were all the same guys from the old show.  But that excuse only works if you're blind.  Just look at this shit.

If it was a Spyder style trike, that might be okay. That kind of trike is just retarded. But it wouldn't matter because it would still look like shit.

Yeah, that's pretty much what it was.  When FoxBox or whatever crapblock had it died shortly after, I considered it a mercy killing.

Does Biker Mice really deserve any reverence? It's nothing but another of the myriad TMNT me-too shows like Bucky O'Hare, Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa, Street Sharks, Extreme Dinosaurs, etc., etc., etc.

I don't remember the show or the game, but I remember the toys. Mainly cause they were piled up in a local outlet toy store.

It was fun and they remade it not-fun.  That's really enough reason for me.  And it was no where down to the level of Streek Sharks.  Yech.  Moo Mesa was pretty generic and Bucky O'Hare was pretty "stiff".  The weird-ass duck was the only creature on it with a personality that wasn't made out of cardboard.

And your post reminded me of Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys.  I miss that show.

I don't remember Biker Mice being any better than street sharks.

The only show that distinguishes itself from those clones is swat katz imo.

For some reason I remember the name of Bucky O' Hare's spaceship is the Rightous Indignation.

What a useless piece of information to have stored.

Swat Kats has one of the most fucking badass cartoon intros of all time.

The show itself I can't recall, but that intro, man. That intro.

Trust me, it was.  Although the second season of BM had a huge glut of episodes and really was a mixed bag in terms of quality.

You should name your penis that.  :lmao:

The show was decent.  With only twenty-four episodes though, they didn't have a whole lot to mess up.  And they actually altered the intro at one point, I think for the second season or maybe for it's broadcast on a different station since it was in syndication, then on TBS or something, then on CN.  I always liked the second one best.

Season 2 -

That intro is pretty rad...

and if my penis wasn't already named Grond: Hammer of the Underworld I'd definitely take that into consideration.  Maybe if my penis goes face later in it's career...

New Voltron Force vids up at the Nick website.  Blah.  It's like they're trying to make it Harry Potter with these three new kids.  Also, Lance's personality has really changed.  It seems Keith should be in this mentor/leader role, but they went and made him a "rebel outlaw".  Neither of which would bother me as much if this were a reboot and not a sequel to the original.

I'm starting to think that not being able to see this is a blessing in disguise. Course I could watch it online (which I assume is what you will be doing) if I had High Speed. Which I do have a lead on that, but who knows if it'll pan out.

What I've been seeing so far are preview clips.

Did I mention Pidge is a secret galaxy-famous DJ?  Hunk writes "rock anthems".  Lance is a secret resistance leader and Allura has a red-headed niece.  Somehow.  Also, they have a black kid among their new cadets who's the descendant of "the ancient people who created Voltron".  That's right, black people made it all along despite having 0 pressence on Arus.  King Lotor, meanwhile, "is on a mission to gain control of the Haggarium powet that now runs through his veins."

That's right, he injected Haggar.  :nurinono:

Wasn't Haggar suppose to be like Zarkon's mother? I seem to remember reading something like that.
