I played it. It's not that great. Metroid is a crappy ass game and the controls suck. You have to move her around using the stylus.

The only reason they made this system is so they can be like "OOO, look, it has a touch screen and dual screens and wireless and that makes it soo cool!"

I'm gonna wait for the PSP.

And I played Halo 2 finally. It's better than the DS, but I don't see why it's any more special than Halo. The only differences I can see is slightly better graphics, a few more vehicles, a few different weapons, and the ability to dual wield some guns.

Is there ANY good FPS for PS2 so I don't have to get a SexBox?

I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I would like to argue with you but since I've neither played the Nintendo Ds nor Halo 2 I'll just sit this one out.

Yeah, really. "O, woe is me! I'm a dumbfuck who shelled out $150 for a DS instead of getting an Xbox for the same price!"

I'm gonna laugh if you get one of the first PSP's that come out, instead of waiting for Sony to un-kink it a little. "O, woe is me! I shelled out an additional $300 for yet another crappy handheld! And my car's broken! Oh, sob! Oh, cry!"

I have too much of a life to play a gameboy, but from what I heard, this thing will go the way of Virtual Boy and NGage.

I think the DS is incredibly nifty.

You don't use the stylus to "move her around." You use the directional pad. The touch screen is for looking, aiming, jumping, changing gun modes, switching to morph ball mode, and looking at the map. You can also use the thumbstrap thingy to use your thumb (or a different finger) in place of the stylus.

I currently don't have a DS... the price is kinda steep and I MAY keep this RAM I bought for HL2 (actually they'll be releasing a patch soon for this certain problem so I will probably not need the extra RAM), and I also have my eyes set on Metal Gear Solid 3. I don't play my handhelds much... but hey, if EB or Gamestop has some trade-in thing... who knows.

And btw, the wireless thing is great. LoL, you won't believe how many cheap bastards there are like me who don't want to buy a link cable.

But yeah, right now the games don't look TOO impressive (graphically) to me. I just kinda feel like I'm playing a PS game on a handheld or something.

Well, actually, Super Mario 64 DS is supposed to be better-looking and higher-poly than the original one...

EDIT: Also, if you just ignore the dual screens, the microphone, the touch screen stuff, the backlit screens, etc., you have the "it's like a portable N64" feature left. ... I loved the Nintendo 64.

I played with one in Electronics Boutique last weekend, and I was all, "What the fuck!" I have small hands, and only two of them. How the fuck am I supposed to mess with the touch pad, the directional buttons, and the regular buttons at the same time, and on something that big? Fuck that. I'm getting a PSP in two years when the price has gone down and I know whether there'll be any decent games out for it.

I really liked the Gameboy (green screen and all) when it first came out but I never liked the idea of paying to sit hunched and look into an itty bitty screen.  I'll probably never buy a handheld because if I have the money to blow on such a thing, I'd rather save it towards getting an actual console.

It was a display model.

I would never waste money on a DS.

And possibly Halo 2, either. Unless it's on computer.

I just want 1 minute on the fucking DS to make my judgement.  Every fucking time I goto a store that has one it's usually babysitting some dumbass kid or some retard feels it's necessary to etch the Rosetta Stone into the thing the whole duration of my usual trip to the mall.

As for Halo 2, you're soooo missing out.

When I hear "display model" all that comes to mind is the thought of touching one of those and feeling all the kid sweat, germies, and oilyness.  Grody.

Yeah, and at least most dollar bills are dry.  I also can't recall the last time I ever spent a display model on a pack of gum.

Played with it the first day it was on display and its really nice.
I will be getting it just for pictochat so i can talk to random people in a hundred ft radius and not actually have to see them.
Im waiting for the colored versions to come out and a price drop hopefully.

Just become obsessive compulsive. It will allow you to wash your grabbers whenever you damn well feel like washing them!

And Doug, look at the Red Faction titles. They are the oppostie of bad.

Good.

I liked the Red Faction titles. I just don't see any reason to run out and buy Halo 2 right away, not to mention an Xbox to play it.

I'm not obsessed with halo 2, and although I'm sure it's a good game, it's just another FPS to me.

Besides, where in Halo 2 can you blow a hole in the wall and find secret rooms and weapons?

There are actually a couple of occasions...  Due to the open ended environments, you'll often run into different situations.  Weapons in Halo 2 are often dropped from the sky from enemy or ally dropships.  Sometimes if you choose to use a vehicle, you'll make a large jump and find a post full of covenant snipers.  One time I found a room full of human weaponry and armor the Brutes had taken as suveniours...  Also, if you play the game in Legendary, there are skulls hidden in the levels that grant you powet-ups when you find them.

Yeah, but D's point is that there is no Geo-mod engine like REd Faction's.

Eh, I'll give him that one.  It would have been nice to see some geo-mod stuff done in Halo 2.  If you're into geo-mod gimmicks, you should really chell out Otogi, Megs.  It really shows how capable the Xbox when it comes to geo-modding.  You can knock out walls, windows, support beams, break rock formations down, and even crater the earth.  It's not scripted either, when you crater the earth, you can actually dig in smooth rounded trenches, even water from a near-by river or pond will flow into them.

Oh yeah, I also did by a DS.  I'm a consumer whore when it comes down to it all.  The things were sold out everywhere, except for one Wal*Mart in Columbia, MD which had like 7 of them left.

So far, I really like the system.  What's interesting is that you use the touch screen AS an analog stick with the thumb-pad attached to the wrist strap.  If I lost you, on the end of the wrist-strap is a hard rubber nub, that contours to your thumb.  When you place that on the screen, a circle forms around it and you now have analog controls.  Very interesting, surprisingly comfortable for Metroid Prime Hunters.  Which unlike Metroid Prime, plays nearly identical to Quake 3.  It's not always so effective in Mario 64.  Which I'm actually happy now that I bought.  It includes a bunch of new levels and very cool mini-games.  They atleast give you a taste of what to expect from Wario Ware DS.  Anyway, try out the DS if you can at the store.  Drawing leud pictures in Pictochat, or over Mario's face in 64 DS is worth it alone.
