I'm thinking it likely becomes more prevelant because of children. I mean, the majority with children are forced to eventually normalize. Meanwhile, people without children are freer to go read something or watch Nova, thus becoming smarter. Or at least that's what I'm gonna put in my thesis.

ARGH! People keep telling me this. I can't say I'm completely against it, but I'm really not into the idea of having kids and don't dig it being talked of like it's an inevitability. And unless the kids want to die a horrible firey death in our SUV when I run it off the side of the road, mommy WILL get her REM sleep!
