I don't like what's being done with this show. I'm having a hard time finding anything to enjoy about it.

Welcome to my world.

I like some of the things here...and I don't like some of the things. It is a mixed bag for me. I wish I loved it and thought it was one of the best animated things I'd seen in years (like how I feel about Avengers: EMH), but eh. It is still one of the prettiest shows to look out at there, but so was the original in it's time.

Yeah, too bad.  I still like the first two episodes.  They were the start of something great.  I wonder if something with the writers or production team changed afterwards.

I think I watched most of the original show when I was a kid, but the only two things I really remember is the deus ex machina sword that always won every battle at the end of the show and that Snarf was the most annoying thing on tv (which was quite a feat, considering it was the 80s).

I'll download some eps of the new show to see if it makes a better impression on me

I just had a thought. How the hell are you supposed to do ANYTHING without arms? Like, get up if someone like Green Lantern punches you so hard you fall over.

Or like, pull down your pants to go to the bathroom.

Or EAT.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

It looks like Thundercats has been put out of our misery. Sad thing is the property is probably dead now.

It died the moment whatever asshole producer decided not to give it a theme song.

But they teased it...with like the first several notes but nope, no theme. Theme songs seem to be on the outs and that is something that already needs to make a come back and it isn't even gone completely.

Honestly, I usually fucking hate intros. Shortening/excluding them is one of the best things that's happened to television in a long, long time. I think Lost is to thank, yeah? Of course, there are exceptions, and ThunderCats did seem to be missing something without that theme song. But that's beside the point, kids just didn't give a shit about the toys or the show.

More Adventure Time and Regular Show, OOOOOOOOOHHH~~~!!!

80s cartoon intros were fucking awesome.

The ones since then have not all been very good.

So I can take 'em or leave 'em honestly.

You know what non-'80s cartoon had a kickass intro?

Samurai Jack.

Oh, and Invader Zim -- and that one didn't even have lyrics, which is typically a deal breaker.

Just saw the first ep.
So Tygra is the older brother but not next in line for the throne? Do we get to see which barmaid the king got friendly with to make that happen?

Haha. Exactly. I just assumed the queen was also a tiger, so their offspring could go either way, but only a lion can be king. But they haven't addressed any of that and I doubt they ever will.

Remember back when this image was all we had to go on, and we were all, "Aww yeah, gonna be so good, baby!"?

But now we know...

Total Drama shitfest and Nick Cannon will be suitable replacements.

Good to know they have their shit together over there.

I think Tygra is adopted...although they never actually cover that in the show, I remember hearing that.

I like my idea! For instance, if Tygra and Cheetara were to knock boots, their kids would be tigers and/or cheetahs, not some horrible sterile hybrids.

I mean, even though there are all these different types of cat people, they have to be able to interbreed, right? And still maintain the various basic cat types? Otherwise after a few generations there wouldn't even be such a thing as a lion or a tiger, you know what I'm saying?

It wouldn't be like human interracial pairings where the heritage becomes increasingly diluted.

Tygra is adopted.  We discussed this about fifty years ago, which is probably about page five or so in this thread.  It was on the CN website for the show that he was an adopted brother.  But the idea of the king and a tigress barmaid does significantly improve the show.

Line up for the T-Cats episodes in April:

Saturday, April 7: "The Trials of Lion-O Pt. 2" -- Lion-O attempts to rescue the other ThunderCats from Mumm-Ra's pyramid.

Saturday, April 14: "Native Son" -- Lion-O and Tygra discover the village of the lost Tiger clan, but what secrets do they hold?

Saturday, April 21: "Survival of the Fittest" -- Wilykit and Wilykat are forced to hunt for their food, but something is hunting them!

Saturday, April 28: "The Pit" -- The Thundercats discover a cat refugee, Pumyra, being forced to fight as a gladiator in a city of Dogs!

Looks like we might find out what exactly Tygra's deal is, and Pumyra might be joining up.
