YJ is getting better. Just like all shows iron out the rough spots usually while the nuris call them crap before they hit their stride.

I have to say this season is way better than last season. So much has happened this season and we still have four episodes to go. Speaking of good seasons, Dexter is really good this season too. Sucks that it might be the last one.

I give a show the better part of a season to get good, sometimes a whole season. The best work isn't going to be in the fledgling eps.

Don't really agree with you since for almost every series I've ever liked, I prefer the first "unpolished" episodes to the later shit where most series begin to either get complacent or desperate. Wasting my time waiting for something crappy to maybe get good is a joke. I'd rather see if something I already think is good gets even better.

And in the case of YJ and Thundercats, each was something I thought was good getting crappy. Because I saw 7 and 6 episodes of those respectively and I don't give something I don't like off the bat 7 minutes let alone 7 episodes. I still like the first eps of each and would rewatch those in a second but as a series, neither was going anywhere I cared for. Have fun watching Lion-O save the sea monkey circus troupe next week or whatever.

Gargoyles got way better when Oberon and company were introduced IMO (my opinion is based off me being 12 at the time but since I was the target demo it actually holds more weight).

Reboot was way better when they time skipped forward as well.

Gargoyles had strong episodes in the beginning that drew you into the story. That five-parter holds up even today and those are my favorite eps, not the Oberon ones. The Oberon shit was good and all, but the series still had a solid beginning. And they didn't do the whole "Goliath goes here and saves these people thing" (what Thundercats is kinda doing now) until after the initial Avalon eps which were in the second season when we actually cared by then who Goliath was and why he was doing what he was doing.

As for Reboot, I didn't care for season 3 either. I don't remember the first eps but, to be fair, I wasn't the biggest fan of that show.

12 yr old me thought the show was bland until the oberon eps. I never owned a single gargoyles toy and I didn't know anyone who had any either.

Young me also found reboot to be very low stakes until the time skip. That's when shit got real son.

If I was to go back and rewatch these now I might agree with you, but whoever was at the helm then knew what they were doing to appeal to the kids.

I mean I can sort of see what you're saying I do vaguely remember there being lots of character development but for some reason as a kid I couldn't really give a shit about that. Which I think supports my argument that these shows are meant for kids and kids like things that don't necessarily translate as better to our adult sensibilities.

Bitch, being a Fire Dragon puts you at '76-'77 which makes you around seventeen or eighteen for the first episodes of Gargoyles. Nevermind the Oberon ones which aired a year later. And that's assuming you watched the show when it first came out and not the syndicated reruns. Oh, and guess what also premiered a month earlier that same year? Reboot. Pfft, twelve. Nice try there, prune juice.
