And also, we lost Corey Haim.  We shall miss them both.

'Lost Boys' actor found dead: Corey Haim starred in Santa Cruz-based film

Corey Haim, the young star of the 1987 Santa Cruz-based cult hit "The Lost Boys," died Wednesday at the age of 38. The Los Angeles Times reported that he likely died from an overdose of prescription drugs.

Haim had struggled with drug addiction for years.

"The Lost Boys" was one of Santa Cruz's most prominent moments in the Hollywood sun. The film, also starring Jason Patric and Keifer Sutherland, was a modern-day vampire fable set against the backdrop of the fictional "Santa Carla," which was, in fact, Santa Cruz. Haim, who played the young hero Sam, was involved in a scene in the film that was shot at the comic-book shop Atlantis Fantasyworld.

Joe Ferrara, the owner/operator at Atlantis, has fond memories of a young Corey Haim during the shooting of "Lost Boys" in the mid 1980s when Haim was about 14.

"He was just a delightful young man," said Ferrara. "He was very light-hearted. You could tell that he was just very happy to be doing what he was doing, and he didn't take himself as seriously as many of the other (actors) seemed to."

"Lost Boys" spent three consecutive Saturdays shooting in Atlantis Fantasyworld - which, in those pre-earthquake times, was on the southern end of Pacific Avenue, and managed by Ferrara and his then business partner well-known Santa Cruz artist James Aschbacher. Haim, and his "Frog brothers" co-stars Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander spent downtime in the store reading everything they could get their hands on.

Ferrara reunited with Haim during an event marking the DVD release of "The Lost Boys" in 2004. Joe revealed Haim's favorite comic-book title during the shooting of the film.

"I said, 'Hey, Corey. Did you read every Archie's comic?'" said Ferrara. "He just bowed his head and was really embarrassed. I blew his cover."

Haim was ill with flulike symptoms before his death, and police said he was taking over-the-counter and prescription medications.

Feldman said he wept when he learned Haim had died.

"This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend," Feldman said in a statement.

I like how they noted he cried.  Because, like, it's so fucking weird to apparently cry when a loved one dies, ya know?

Schmoo was the one who told me the guy died and afterwards she was all, "oh yeah, and they were molested" like an afterthought.  Oh, that Schmoo.

Mom. There's, not mine.

And like I said on Fiero's Facebook. Thank God it wasn't the Feld-Man. Don't know if I could take a Goonie dying.

He looks like a pudgier Luke Skywalker.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

Dude's been trying to kill himself for the past 25 years.  Looks like he finally succeeded.

On Public Radio they had this guy who was the only Holocaust survivor from his village.  He was talking about his village and he mentioned the town baker was named "Schmoo."
