Because he was able to prove he lived there 7 years after turning 18, he was then capable of proving he was a legal resident or something and not needing to pay rent/taxes, dependant on the mother paying. Now if she wants him out, she'll have to sell the house or else move away or something. I forget the exact thing (it happened when I was young), but basically she can't legally kick him out of the basement.

That's fucked and there has to be a legal way around it if the mom really wants him out.

She tried and couldn't without selling the house. I'm sure a lawyer could, but then I don't know. None of my business, they're both fucking psychos.

Bullshit. That's just citing adverse possession (i.e., squatter's rights). It wouldn't hold up because he was there by permission.

Easiest thing to do: have her sell it to you (I'm assuming you're a decent relative) for, like, a dollar, alter the deed, and then revert the rights. Or pull a gun on him and order his ass out of the house for eternity. Or fill the basement with concrete while he's asleep. These are but a few things that can be done that would get the desired effect.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

You'd still have to pay sales tax on assessed value if they sold it, regardless of the selling price. The concrete thing also wouldn't work considering the hassle of getting a permit for concrete dumping, etc. I know she tried, but as of now since he still lives there I doubt anything happened.

tl;dr he's a fatass loser who's only real relationship was with an illegal who produced a kid with him and then moved back to her third-world shithole rather than coexist with him in his retired mother's basement.

But, still...his legal argument only applies if he's there without permission but the owner does nothing to assert their dominion over them. Being that he's there by permission and not holding the property hostile to the owner, he has no claim.

It's like if a tenant just quit paying bills and stayed for the requisite amount of time...they don't get adverse possession for the simple fact that they entered the property by permission of the owner or landlord.  I'm assuming he didn't break in and live under your Grandma's nose for that length of time?

Nope, again I don't know the legal standing of the thing since it happened over 10 years ago, but they wanted him out and the law in RI said he didn't have to. He was hit by a UPS truck and made alot of money and used a lawyer to hook himself up. He's really the bottom of the barrel.

Here's a local example of how f'd up Rhode Island's property laws apparently are. My reading of it, however, shows that it has to be exclusive use, not shared. So it still doesn't seem like it'd hold up. Did they actually take the matter to court for a decision, or was this just a lawyer citing statute?

Personally, if someone were to do that to my property, I'd probably go to jail for something bad. But some things you can't let slide. Granny needs to put rat poison in his biscuits.

Still, we allow 16-year old strippers and legal medicinal marijuana use. America, fuck yeah.

They're not allowed to work after 10pm, as per child labor laws.

The legalized prostitution loophole unfortunately ended any 11pm activities. Fucking Christians.

It was legal for a year after the law preventing prosititute apparently didn't apply to private property. Some wet-blanket bitch led a crusade because she probably found out her husband spend 30,000 a year on 'massages' at the Yankee-cranky.

So only to business-owned properties? Or does that mean it was only prohibited at public property, parks, schools, etc?

I would say it only included places that were zoned for commercial use. If the place was a zone residential, it wasn't illegal.

Bingo. If it were private and behind closed doors, it wasn't prosecutable prositution.

We still have 16-year old strippers and medicinal marijuana, and Mass decrimalized weed under an ounce.

That's cool. I've been wondering something about areas where its decriminalized. How do drug tests work? Will places still hire you?

The main reason I'm no longer  casual pot smoker is because I want to have a job.

Depends, really. If you live in the household of someone who has a license, they can't discriminate against you for being around someone handicapped (thanks George Bush I!), and since pot takes a month to clear the system, often you can delay a random drug test by sucking down a shitload of poppy seeds and calling a false-positive.
