When Will White People Stop Making Movies Like "Avatar"?
I like the guy in that article that said the movie was the best one-dimensional 3D movie he's ever seen.

This being the first 3D film I've ever seen I was wowed solely by the 3D. It was very pretty.
As for the movie I nitpicked about all sorts of little things. Like why the idiot humans didn't just drill a horizontal shaft under the tree. Or why an alien species would have the same sexual rituals as humans, like making out, or doing it the same way humans do. And the sex scene wasn't even much of a sex scene, but a suck scene. Or the battle scene at the end that made all the battles in every St*r WarzzZZ prequel look 10 times better.
I liked the movie, but realized it's pretty preachy and not a very complex plot, not to mention no complex characters or good one liners. There are much better movies last year than this. And the entire movie is basically Imperial colonization meets enviromentalism, or Pocahontas meets Ferngully, or a tree-hugging hippie's wet dream.
What stumps me is why conservatives don't like this so much. I had this one guy who I know (but don't like) say it was all liberal propaganda. A whole "Colored people are victims of evil white people" crap. I'm not exactly sure how relocating/killing indigenous populations and destroying the environment for the purpose of strip mining an area is liberal propaganda, since this kind of stuff has actually happened in the past. And some corporations will do anything to turn a profit, even illegal stuff, and if anyone gets in their way it's their funeral.
I figure that the people complaining about this being liberal propaganda are just people who want to find something to bitch and whine about, either because they're attention whores, or they want to put themselves on a mighty moral high horse and show how much better they are than others.
Either that or they feel the movie hits too close to home and they feel guilty for something.
