I agreed with Peter Jackson that Tom Bombadil was nothing but a wierdo and didn't deserve to be put into the movie.

I really wanted to see how Jackson would have portrayed Bombadil, and hoped he would be in the DVD release somehow, but yeah, that would have totally fucked up the mood of the movie.

It's the only part of the book that seems like it was part of the Hobbit. They go from evil trees that eat you and evil spirits of long-dead kings to a fag liviing in the woods married to a squirrel. Then the ring doesn't affect him, but then the damn thing never affects anything in the rest of the book.

He was married to a river spirit, not a squirrel. Tom Bombadil's þing, besides being specifically created to be a conundrum, was also a personification of ðe natural world. Ðe ring had no effect on him because he had no desire for any powet beyond what he had. Even ðough he may have been a Maiar, a Valar, or, hell, even Eru himself, he had clear, self-defined boundaries. So while he had no powers beyond ðose borders, noþing had powet over him wiþin ðose borders.

But most importantly, he was purposefully left as an enigma. I would have loved to see him in film form, but I can certainly understand why he wasn't.

I used to read Inuyasha fanfics from there. I had already "outgrown" Dragon Ball fanfics by then, which I used to read on ppl's tripod and geoshities websites. It never ceased to disgust me when they'd refer to having children as "having pups".

I don't really read fanfiction these days but when I still did, yeah, I stopped going there.

You've read the wrong stuff, apparently. And it's especially not true right now.

Tom Bombadil seemed to me to be a holdover from The Hobbit that was only meant to illustrate that the Ring's powet was finite when faced with a force for good that outstripped it. He wasn't there to advance the plot in any way, aside from illustrating the world we were getting ourselves into. I also imagine it was something Tolkien may have gone back to at some point as a spinoff of sorts had he lived another fifty years and thus had time to fully flesh out and annotate the legend of the Ring as it was.

The fight allegedly began because Bell was upset that Lee was having sex with Murgevski.

Bell was rushed to hospital suffering from a tear to her bowel lining and severe bleeding, and was expected to undergo surgery.

Department of Education spokesman Mark Davis told the Telegraph no decision had been made regarding Lee’s employment at the school.

"At this stage we wouldn't have any comment to make on the situation with the teacher," he said.

"We'd await the outcome of the court proceedings."

Lee was refused bail and has been ordered to appear before court on January 11.
