I mean, including federal taxes, state, city , social security, etc etc. I get like 33% taken. My bf just told me he's going to get 40% taken away (working in nyc) and i think thats a fucking crime! 40% wtf

He works in NYC and it's only 40? I've heard as high as 57 if you live and work in the city.

Thankfully, RI isn't that bad. I think it's around the 20s.

Considering their rates are at most around 30%, that's still not bad. Citibank tried to do that to a card I never used. It was around 8%, and now they wanted to jack it up to 29.99% Janurary 1st. I cancelled the card.

WHAT. I've never heard of that! I thought that only happened in some countries in Europe. This is horse manure. Anyways he has an apartment in Manhattan and here in Philly (his main residence is here). He still has to paid taxes for both states though.

Do you mean all of the taxes together, or just federal. If you live in Manhattan, you pay Fed, State, City, Borough, and the all the various assessments on properties and fees for the mass amounts of transit systems.
