Necro-topic! Here's what we know some two years later about the new Turtles series:

Voices:
Leonardo - Jason Biggs
Donatello - Rob Paulsen (WTF)
Raphael - Sean Aston
Michelangelo - Greg Cipes (Yikes)
April - Mae Whitman
Spinter - Hoon Lee (*shrug*)

Utrom are going to be called the Krang. How creative. April will become a sixteen year old girl and Donatello will creep on her or some shit. Also, bos and nunchaku are wimpy weapons so Don and Mike get upgraded to shit with points on it. All the turtles have three toes. No Casey until the 2nd season. No word on who'll be lending their vocal-chops to the Shredder or Baxter Stockman.

Also, let's be honest. They lost me at "CG". And Don got the short end of the stick on the TMNT Dental Plan.

I liked the last series. Unless you mean Fast Forward, which needed to die in cauldron of boiling oil.

Also, since I have no interest on making a topic, on other news on the anthro crime-fighting hero front, the Biker Mice are getting a feature film. The revial series sucked serious balls, whether you were a fan of the original or not. Why would they springboard a movie off of that shit? I would surprised if this makes it off the ground to be honest, since there were talks of a live-action Turtles-style movie back in the 90's that never bore fruit either. I'm going to assume by "feature film" they mean "a 70 minute direct-to-dvd PAL release" of equally crappy quality as the last series:

Gang of Seven Animation has announced a new $100 million Animation Film Fund in partnership with the Chinese Government.

One of the first films slated to be financed through the fund is a reboot of the 1990s popular animated television series Biker Mice from Mars, which ran from 1992-1996 and again in 2006-2007.

Gang of Seven is an artist-run studio whose members include such animation industry notables as Rich Arons, Dennis Venizelos, Bob Kline, Rik Maki, Bernie Wrightson and Dick Sebast.

The studio has completed recently pre-production on the CGI animated feature film The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, based on the classic book by L. Frank Baum, author of The Wizard of Oz.

“The potential of feature animation in unexplored genres outside of the mainstream is an exciting prospect. As evidenced by the recent Comic-Con, the appetite is enormous and it is an expanding niche begging to be filled,” says studio head and animation veteran Tom Tataranowicz.

Gang of Seven also has developed a slate of widely anticipated animated horror properties with which a number of studios and live action horror directors are looking to become involved with. Two of the properties are the first CGI animated version of Frankenstein and a film based on the graphic novel Freak Show, for which Wrightson is expected to become involved with as production designer.

Wrightson is one of the world’s premier horror illustrators whose many famous accomplishments include Swamp Thing and illustrating Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein. He is also renowned for his film production work on movies such as Ghostbusters and The Mist as well as for his numerous collaborations with Stephen King.

What annoys me most about giving Mike and Don weapons with blades and points is that the bladeless weapon are part of their personalities as the more pacifistic turtles. The bo is a basic weapon. It's a stick. It doesn't stab anyone and can used as a relatively safe defensive weapon, which suits a guy that would be happier behind a computer anyway. (Not that you couldn't kill someone with it if you really wanted to but that's not what this convo's about.) Nunchaku are actually pretty dangerous, but there's an art to them that's completely different from a kusarigama. They are flashy but not in a way where Mikey with his airheaded personality could hurt someone if he left them lying around while playing a video game.

They killed the Shredder in the first comic but I'm bouncing it off the Turtles most people know, which are non-killing Turtles.

They didn't change the title to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in the UK for nothing. Ninjas are trained killers. And all that other acrobatic shit they do is merely in aid of their killing art.

Not that the Turtles will be killing anyone in this new show, but I just don't see their weapons making any difference. They could give them sidearms for all it matters.

I think I'll be pleasantly surprised with what we do get, CGI may be slightly bothersome but it's not horrible looking.
