There seems to be this obsession with getting teen pop stars to spin around poles suggestively. The dance choreographers don't have them go so far as humping or erotically dancing on the pole, because then parents would be pissed and there'd be a shitstorm over teens being exploited as sex objects. They just have them twirl around the poles as if to suggest some erotic overtone, as if "hey look jailbait on a stripper pole!" or "Look at me, I'll be stripping and straddling this thing in 5 years."

They're putting the hint of sexuality into the dance, but not so far as to piss off soccer moms.
