Forget about the "what this country was built" on gargbage.  The whole world is built on stolen land, war, and death.  Do you think the natives of mexico spoke spanish before the spaniards came and slaughteraped them?  So that "omg it's so insulting" thing is moot.  Instead just ponder the questions and use a nation of swatkats with a ninja turtle minority if it helps you think outside the box.

The ideals this country was founded upon have not always been upheld by it's people but handing out powet based on racial representation is certainly not going to help uphold them now.

This is a country where people aren't judged by race (We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, etc). This wasn't always the case, but white people killed a whole lot of other white people in attempt to make this so.  So yes some homage should be paid to the people that set that up and those people happen to be white.  No one is asking for submission, but I'm sure as hell asking for assimilation. Because where does this "we should have 35%" crap end?  People dividing up powet based on their race and other nationality?  That's fucking bullshit.

I never said this is mine gtfo, but if people don't want to assimilate then yeah kindly do gtfo because the constitution is against handing out powet based on race/ foreign nationality.  Where are the irish, french, and italian minorities now?  Why aren't they whining for a piece of the pie?  Because they assimiliated into the culture.

It's insane that minority people insult each other by saying that "they're acting white" and accusing each other of turning their backs on their heritage.  Because to some degree they SHOULD be turning their backs on their heritage and creating a new heritage as an american here (like all the immigrants before them).

And if you're not supposed to be here then you get no rights.  They shouldn't be getting hired in the first place.  The whole point of hiring them is because you can get away with paying them a little over jack shit right? If they were given rights to minimum wage then where is the draw?  Might as well hire americans then.

Also, I wish you could experience life as a dude for a day.  I think men and women are so inherently different that you wouldn't just be you with a dong.  I think it would make you a whole different person.

We'll take the niggers, and the chinks, BUT NO IRISH!

Best line from Blazin' Saddles. People ignore the treatment of Irish in America post Civil War in the industrial North. They were treated horrendously.

I'm not sure I should barge in on some deep political and sociological discussion about the differences of genders, so I wont.
No opinion to share, nope.

Well heres kindof a take on it, i see men and women as inherently the same. Same animal, just given different hormones and treated differently by society, they act and are as they are expected to be.
What their junk looks like doesn't really factor in it to me. Sure testosterone makes men bigger, stronger, and all that but it is society that makes them abuse that. I know we all have genetic predispositions for some traits, I guess separated identical twins might have proven that or something, but I see these gender roles as being propagated through society and teevee, and all this heteronormative bullshit I see around constantly. I think you would still be who you are, basically, whether you have a innie or an outie.

As far as the whole discrimination based on ethnicity, well I don't have any powet to hire or fire anyone and I like it that way. I like just removing myself from that whole thing.
I've been known to be ashamed sometimes of being white, mostly because mixed race people are so sexy and have such beautiful skin, I'm jealous.

I have to disagree.  Society doesn't dictate male dominance it was dictated by nature.  I cite the animals that are closest to us as evidence.  Which is why I say it's two different worlds.  Also (and more importantly), androgens in the womb do shit to our brains that make the genders unique.  We don't think the same.  So technically you wouldn't be you no matter how you slice it, but as far as what would actually happen I guess we'll never know for sure.

Forget about the "what this country was built" on gargbage.

Dude, you're the one that was bringing up the founder bs to begin with.

Quote
This is a country where people aren't judged by race (We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, etc).

False.  Nice sentiment, but false.

NOW what are you talking about?  I never said we shouldn't honor white civil rights activists.

No one is asking for submission, but I'm sure as hell asking for assimilation. Because where does this "we should have 35%" crap end?  People dividing up powet based on their race and other nationality?  That's fucking bullshit.

You are reading things too exact.  I'm not saying to divide shit up, I'm saying this:  All things being equal, if there is 35% red and 65% blue, then if there were no biases, inequalities, etc., 35% of anything should be red and the rest should be blue.  But it's not.  I'm am using the disproportionate amount to show the inequality, period.  I never said we should divide powet that way ourselves, but if all things were equal, it should already be that way.

Cherokees tried to assimilate and still got thrown into the Trail of Tears.  The only way to properly assimilate to not be yourself at all, even down to the physical characteristics you can't change.  Assimilation is in effect submission because true assimilation is complete surrender of any ethnic identity.

Quote
I never said this is mine gtfo, but if people don't want to assimilate then yeah kindly do gtfo because the constitution is against handing out powet based on race/ foreign nationality.  Where are the irish, french, and italian minorities now?  Why aren't they whining for a piece of the pie?  Because they assimiliated into the culture.

You don't think lighter skin helps?  Or that they immigrated in large groups earlier?  And how far is acceptable assimilation?  For me, I'm fine if the other people can speak English but then you have folks that want immigrants to ONLY speak English.  How much culture are they allowed to keep?  Who can measure this?

Quote
It's insane that minority people insult each other by saying that "they're acting white" and accusing each other of turning their backs on their heritage.  Because to some degree they SHOULD be turning their backs on their heritage and creating a new heritage as an american here (like all the immigrants before them).

But *what* degree is that?  I don't know how we'd be able to measure that.

Quote

No, they shouldn't but they still do and no one is punished for it.

Quote
The whole point of hiring them is because you can get away with paying them a little over jack shit right? If they were given rights to minimum wage then where is the draw?  Might as well hire americans then.

I would think that's how it should work.  Poor Americans should be getting this work.  Although, from the documentaries I've been seeing lately, it seems it's not work they really want.  I don't want to clean horse poo.

Also, I wish you could experience life as a dude for a day.  I think men and women are so inherently different that you wouldn't just be you with a dong.  I think it would make you a whole different person.

That's the point.  I don't think I'd be me "with a dong", I'd think I'd be a better, different me.

The point is the founding fathers of this country are pretty much equally guilty than the founders of any nation anywhere in the world. That's why that point is moot because there is no shining example of righteousness out there.  Show me a country that wasn't forged out of blood.

I wasn't talking about civil rights activists per say (I meant the civil war) but how can you say that you want to honor them when you don't believe in the ideal here that people aren't judged by race.  Yes there are some racists here just like everywhere in the world, but if that statement was entirely false then there would have been some ethnic cleansing done by now.  But it seems this sotomayor chick doesn't believe it either and is now trying define herself by her race instead of striving the ideal.

As far as the natural 35% representation there are plenty of other reasons other than racism for why it doesn't automatically instantly come out that way.  One that these people aren't of the same race as the people that founded this country (back to omg japanese people run japan!?) Another reason being that some of these minorities aren't assimilating.  And yes you do have to give up your individual cutlural identity to do this.  All those other groups I mentioned did it.  But for some reason there is this bullshit "remember your heritage" sentiment now and oh hey look there is a divide!?  omg how did that happen?

Lighter skin? The president is black.  The number one box office draw celebrity in hollywood is also black.  The italians spoke a different language and weren't all white either.  In fact they should be used as the model.  Did they immigrate in large groups? Yes, and there was room for them.  They didn't overcrowd any public schools, etc. (but that's another thread, miami is so fucked in that respect).

And what does immigrating in large groups have to do with it anyway exactly?  You mean they all came in a group and assimilated as a group?  So for example, in the case of mexico we should just accept this alien culture slowly trickling in and not assimilating just because they live next door?  Because you and your ancestors aside, and I know there are plenty of assimilated mexicans, but it doesn't change the fact that that's whats happening .  And I'm all for mexicans assimilating but it has to be done at a pace that the infrastructure can handle and not at the pace that people can run across the border (which neither of us condone).

Being from miami is like being from the future here.  I've seen first hand what happens when a foreign group is allowed unmitigated immigration and retains it's own cultural identity instead of going native and takes over a portion of a state.  The discrimination goes beyond racism to culturalism, which is something that I can't see a solution for.

And how can we measure the assimilation?  When everyone is speaking english as their primary language in public is a very good sign.  I don't want to go into a government building and hear everyone speaking spanish.  Not making english the official language of America has to be one of the stupidest things ever.  It's not racism to do that, it helps ties the citizens together culturally.

If everyone is part of the same culture (same primary language, same social norms, etc.) and the only difference is race I wonder how many people would be found out to be discriminating on skin color alone.  I don't think that number would be very high.

I have a strong feeling that if everyone was "acting white"aka assimilating the way the immigrants of old did then this "it would just work out to 35% naturally" thing you speak of would happen faster.

Also I discovered today that the 20$ bill didn't fall out of my pocket.

I only made 94$ in tips and I had 2 20s a 50 and 4 ones.

I had to use one of the 20s to get out of the parking garage and I forgot about that.

But also, (and this is where the god's played a trick on me in an attempt to get me to kill innocent people ala hercules) I fucking swear I saw 2 20s in my hand when I got coffee at 7-11.  But it's just not possible because I took the money out of my apron and I know I didn't have a 3rd 20.

So my girlfriend was pissed cause I was ignoring her during my flip out and then later I told her that it was all over nothing and that I'm insane and she got a little more upset, but you have to expect shit like that when you're dating hercules.

Ha ha, no.  Like she didn't need another reason not to like you.  What are you suggesting I use them for anyway?  EW!

I remember when I found $10 like fifteen years or so ago.  It was an awesome day.

Quote
you don't believe in the ideal here that people aren't judged by race.

Hang on there, I believe in the ideal.  But that ideal is not the reality of today.  I think it's very dangerous to focus on ideals to the exclusion of reality.  Nothing can ever change if I just turn a blind eye to it.  I'm not gonna sit here and smile and say all men are created equal when they're not.  More obvious and relatable to most of you than race, what about wealth?  How can you say Bill Gates and Rama are gonna be judged as equal?

Quote
why it doesn't automatically instantly come out that way.

You are beating and jacking off a dead horse here.  I KNOW why.  It's 2009 now.  It should be closer to 35% by now.  If you want to imply that racism of today is not prevelant and race is not a factor, your proof would have been in something close to that number.  I don't like linking blogs as opposed to news sources but stuff like this: http://joboja.blogspot.com/2009/02/obama-effect-gives-black-models-boost.html It should NOT have taken Obama's presidential win to get more black models.  Black models should have been more prominent by now.

Quote
Not making english the official language of America has to be one of the stupidest things ever.

I agree.

Quote
If everyone is part of the same culture (same primary language, same social norms, etc.) and the only difference is race I wonder how many people would be found out to be discriminating on skin color alone.

Plenty.  Some if you're lighter, a lot if you're "too dark".  My mom is darker than me and next to some of our relatives, I fucking glow like a firefly's ass.  Yeah, I can barely communicate in Spanish, but why the fuck should I get dirty looks walking into a taqueria before I actually open my mouth and they find out?  Black people do that to each other, too.  Yeah, it's crap and it's stupid and harms the cause, but it happens.

Quote
I have a strong feeling that if everyone was "acting white"

But that's the rub.  Nobody really wants to "act white".  They shouldn't have to impersonate a white person just to be counted American enough.  Besides, a lot of the whites folks here are the last white people you want them to imitate.  Frankly, people that speak English and have some understanding of the basic laws and courtesies in this country is enough assimilation for me.  I've met foreign people who do this and never got the impression they were ever acting white.  Not even Americans, either.  Exchange students with the intent of going home later.

Did you save Merla's batwings?

Ha ha, no.  Like she didn't need another reason not to like you.  What are you suggesting I use them for anyway?  EW!

Eh I've given up on that anyway. Maybe when I become rich I can buy her favor with Scrooge McDuck amounts of cash. You know...the swiming in it amount.

And I was just thinking you could save all your fingers...you know if you wanted a thing. Course I don't know how it works, maybe you need the finger bone.

Well you know the could take that flesh and mold it into a thing and if you rejected it...no big loss there. But if it took I you know I bet she'd be all nagging you about keeping it clean and stuff and watch what you do with it, cause you know it use to hers.

Rama do I need to point out the complete incomprehensibility of the above statement?  :joe:
Maybe there's just something wrong with me and you are just on another plain as far as finger speed and brainwaves are concerned.

Reminds me of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnylM1hI2jc.
Changed my whole perspective and shit.
