Topic 10: The Internet
« on: May 19, 2009, 09:57:33 PM »
Why is everything so dead now? Shit seemed so much more active 4 years ago. Is it just so big now?
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

I think it's lost a lot luster. It was like a new toy in the 90s...you played with it every chance you got. Now it's taken for granted as just being there and it's more to Tweet, look up movie times, or watch videos on the you tube. It's just lost it's new car smell is all.

Niether do I. More the You Tube cause of the slow connection, and cause I just don't want to bothered with Twitter. But I mean that's what most people seem to do nowdays.

Fuck Twitter.  Like I really need a report every time somebody eats lunch or farts or whatever.  :finger: Got something interesting to tell me, e-mail or call.

I'm not going to twitter.

It's sad that we're all not as INTERNET as we once were, but there isn't much to be done about it.  When I'm famous I'll be on with more enthusiasm.

Just be sure to remember enough to write those memoirs.

Funny thing is that it seems everybody's online now.  Not just a certain group of people.  I'm expecting to get a friend request from my granny on facebook any day now.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I've got crazy half-family bitching TO MY DAD to tell me to add them. They're in their forties and they're complaining that their 26 year old half-brother doesn't want to add them to facebook. I'm not even adding their kids (well I added one because she's a dirty 16 year old with hot friends, she takes some dirty pics of her friends). :tom:

Various reasons in no particular order:

* Internet is built for the fast and not all of us are there yet.  Compared to ten years ago dial-up worked just fine.  I don't go to websites for tv stations, tv shows, movies, or anything like that because some flash and other long-loading shit is built in so it's not worth it.  For the percentage still on dial-up, we'd rather shut the computer off and do something else.  Either that or let the entire thing load but go off and do something else for a half hour while it does, so we go to less places online as a result.

* Not as addicted to the internet.  I remember one time when I was about 24 or so and I stayed up for a day and half on the fucking internet.  Ew.

* Yes, it's bigger.  More to do so the pool of people spread out.  Remember when ezBoard was the thing for most of us?  The options have increased exponentially since then.  People got into social networking, did their own boards, or quit boards and only do stuff on IM or something.

* Not to depress anyone, but it might also be dead because people around our ages start popping out critters and working on careers.  So our particular pool of people thins out.  If you go to where the stupid kids are, like Twilight message boards or some slut's YouTube account or some spoiled brat's facebook, I'm sure you'll find plenty of activity.

I don't mind adding family (well, extended family) to my MySpace, but some of them keep deleting or changing their accounts.  It's irritating.  What the fuck are you doing that makes you delete the thing?  No one's in a high profile career or a business person or something.  Edit that shit out and move on.  And then you have other people that are just trashy.  Ew.

Our high-speed internet coincided with Eddie being promoted to One Of Those Called At Home, Day Or Night.  Once we get U-Verse & wireless, we won't be limited to sharing one computer or prime net hours.

Fuckin'-A. I only go to like two three places anymore. This board is actually one of the faster loads for me. But shit man...I can't do anything on the net. If it takes loading anything more then a Jpeg (and even then a really big one like over 3MB it take me up to 30 mins to download it.) I just can't do. I have to use my flash drive and bum high speed off friends to do simple things like download updates and things like Anti-Spam programs. It's a pain in the ass and if I could change it I would in heart beat.

I plan on being fully accessible to the public.  My pics will be worth nothing to the paprazzi because I'll dress up as the characters I play and walk around hollywood blvd impersonating myself.

Fuckin'-A.

I'm still on cloud-9 as a result of getting DSL after seven years.  But during that whole time, I was on crummy 26.2kbps dialup at best.  I tried to download a news site front page once and counted it out...it took me ten minutes to get everything completely  up and running...the damn thing was around 1.2MB of data.  That's ridiculous, particularly in that more than half that is advertising.

Oh, and remember when banner ads were new?  Those were the days....

Well I've had to endure dial up for about 10 years now. Wasn't so bad back in the 99, but by 05 I was feeling the hurt and now I can barely exist on the net. I'm jealous you finally got High Speed. I keep bugging the local Internet companies, but like I said in another thread unless I'm read to 700 bucks for setup and 70 bucks a month...High Speed just isn't in the cards.

If we hadn't moved from the more prosperous part of town, we'd have DSL.  AT&T are being dicks and the only other company I can find that offers DSL has packages geared for businesses so the prices are way fuckin' higher.  Which sucks because the AT&T DSL options in SA are well within my budget, nice and cheap... but only if you live in the right place.   >:(

Roadrunner cable is looking like my only viable option if I want something faster.   :blink:

Wow...you live IN SA and can't get it? Shit. I always assumed that as long as I lived in a City getting it would be a breeze.

2. Didn't want to pay that much.
3. Coyote sympathizer.

I always wanted the coyote to catch the road runner the same way I wish Sylvester would finally chew Tweety into feathery oblivion.

"OG Tweety" :lol:  OG Bugs was a pretty awesome guy as well.  And then they started that rule that he couldn't pick on people and that they had to pick on him first.  Lame ass!  All it did was make him annoying and smug.
