Topic 5: St*r WarzzZZ Episode I - A decade has passed.

I still dislike the finer points though I like this movie. I suggest everyone see the two major fan-edits of the movie; the Phantom Edit and the Phantom Re-edit. The later is my personal favorite, because it completely redefines Jar Jar as a sarcastic being who hates the Naboo for being racist and colonizers. I just found out that the director of the Empire Strikes Back was offered to direct it with George stepping back as producer... and he turned it down. Fucker could have made things beautiful. I still blame Lucas, though.

Still, I love the Battle Droids.

It's actually paced better then Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith and the underlying plot isn't halfbad. It's just the things he got wrong where so in your face and hard to ignore it that it just ruined it for most. I have to admit I hardly have anything to do with the Franchise anymore, and I use to be a pretty big fan. I don't know if it was the prequels or what. Although I more firmly believe now that it was more Gary Kurtz (Producer on SW, ESB, and Raider of the Lost Ark.) that kept Lucas in line and made those movies great. Once Lucas fired him and replaced him with Yes Men it all went down the shitter and he pulled Spielberg with him (course he was losing it in his own already anyway...I mean did you SEE War of the Worlds? Blech!)

Lucas focused way too much on putting the stuff out, but the movies definately needed more creative help.

Here's hoping the new TV shows are better. If they never come out.

Clone Wars has been ok...it's not blowing my socks off, but it's also not the total suck either. I don't know if he Live Action one is ever going to get of he ground. They've been talking about it since ROTS and it seems to be stuck in the same stage of devolpment now as it was then.

I almost walked out of the IV re-release when Greedo shot first.

Clone Wars has been ok...it's not blowing my socks off, but it's also not the total suck either. I don't know if he Live Action one is ever going to get of he ground. They've been talking about it since ROTS and it seems to be stuck in the same stage of devolpment now as it was then.

The episodes without the little red girl are much better.

It was.  Just say it was.  I wasn't even a "pretty big fan" by any standard and once those prequels came out, I started backing off that shit.

Ok...it was a big part of it. That and the fact I went from pretty well off to pretty un-well off around the same time didn't help either. Hard to be a fanatic when GL wants his huge cut of the profits.  Looking around my house you wouldn't think I was anything more then a casual fan these days. OT DVDs in the DVD shelf, a Poster on the wall, and a couple books in the bookcase. That's about it.
