Watchmen
« on: Mar 09, 2009, 01:17:45 AM »
Saw it Friday.  It was good.  This one article I read about it called it "the next Lord of Rings", which is a crock of shit.  (Apples and oranges.)  The slowish bone-crunching fights were kinda blah.  I mean, if everyone's punches do that, then who cares what the punches sound like anymore?  At least there wasn't insanely ridiculous wirework kungfu thrown in there.  Some of the 80's music that was there only to remind us that this takes place during the 80's was also slightly weird.  In a similar vicinity of odd were the old people that were obviously younger people.  (Nixon's face, WTF.  It looked like a rubber mask.)  They could've at least done something with some of their voices.  Old people do not sound like young people.  Also, there's plenty of glowing blue penises for those of you who like that sort of thing.

STARSHIP TROOPERS! THIS GENERATION'S STAR WARS!

That comercial annoyed me as a child, they do that shit all the time now. That dumb Dmetri Martin show has itself being compared to Seinfeld, it's not even the same comedic genre!?
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

i dont care about the movie, but i'd probably see it just to look at the blue wee wee to see if this is true

Watchmen was pretty good in my estimation.  Very close to the comic, and where it wasn't was an improvement almost across the board.  Yes, Nixon's Pinocchio nose was a major distraction, and, yes, it drug in some places where they were so tied down to the book.  Still, for a story that was said to be unfilmable, they really pulled it off.  But calling it a new Lord of the Rings or Retard Wars is unmitigated bullspit.

As for circumsized or not, I really tried not to scrutinize it that much.  And to possibly save you some time, his genitalia is about as sexy as this Alien Guy who killed Nabeshin in Puni Puni Poemy.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Yeah I gotta agree here. The one major change they made was a part of the story that always felt a little silly to me anyway. And  what they replaced it with actually made a lot more sense to be honest. Other then that it was very faithful to the comic. I hadn't read it in about ten years and seeing it on screen was bringing up some "Oh yeah" moments for me. And I liked the music. Thought it worked well but I hear a lot of people complaining about it. Didn't really like the woman that played the Silk Spectre...the younger one that is. Her preformance was a little flat compared to the others around her. Only other guy that was more cardboard was Dr. M, and he was suppose to be that way.

From what I can tell, the complainers are those who thought it was supposed to be X-Men.

When you consider that she was only there for looks and her teeny-weeny bod in what amounts to a bumblebee condom, she did well as a piece of scenery.

I didn't really scrutinize the blue... "wee wee" either.  :lol:

At least they didn't ask the foley guys to add "skin slapping" sounds when Dr. M walked.

As for the SS lady...I don't know I was just expecting more then eye candy I guess. Frankly I was too distracted by her terrible hair cut to pay much attention to her non-existant curves. But really it wasn't so much her scripted lines, but more the bland boring "I'm reading these off of cue card like Brando." performance. I don't think I'd really think it was so bad if she wasn't  around so many other guys that just nailed the characters so well. If they'd had Freddie Prince Jr. as Night Owl or some other such nonsene I doubt I'd be complaining about her.

I will, thanks to the Netflix.  But I won't be buying until the Penis Mightier version with everything editted together sees release.

I thought this was great.  The only thing to complain about is that chick's acting.  It was very artificial amongst all the other great performances.
