You know no one really knows when Washington was born. More then likely President's day was assigned as his birthday to cover up some much older pagan holiday and thus make converting to locals that much easier.

The pope is either a certified genius or a pathetic whacko: the former because he is virtually worshiped by the half of the world who doesn't want him dead, or the latter...because he has to be a Catholic to do it

As for Washington's birthday, I only get off work for two men's birthdays...Jesus and Robert E. Lee. And General Lee's birthday is only because MLK day still isn't official in my home state, and I don't work for the federal government anymore.

It has nothing to do with racism. REL day predates MLK day by nearly a hundred years, and since they fall on the same day it makes no difference at all, except to idiots who don't know better. It certainly doesn't to the huge population of African Americans who live here...the state with the largest percentage of them in the nation.
