I don't give a crap about the Olympics and its hijacking of the airways, but these people are worthy of any celebrity they receive by virtue of their hard work.  Positive human accomplishment is worth commendation and celebration, so I don't begrudge Phelps, of all the Olympians, getting his fifteen minutes and a few multi-million dollar endorsements.

Being the best is only relevant to what other people have accomplished.  Has anyone even won gold medals in 3 or 4 unrelated events?

It's not that I think he's so terrible looking, but he just reminds me of Butthead.  During that first three-way interview with him and Mark Spitz, I kept doing Beavis and Butthead voices.  "Like, who's the old guy?  These headphones are cool."

Did you see that bit where they said Phelps' torso is that of a 6'8" man and his legs are that of a 6'0".  He's a fucking chimera!

Once Phelps hit that "unprecedented 11 career golds!" and kept on racing, I started rooting harder for everyone else. Fuck, man, let someone else have one!

Miina's only '5-6", but her torso is so damn long that when she sits, she's a little taller than me. It gives her an unfair advantage when showing off leg flexibility.

Yeah my mom thinks so too.  I think he's hot and not because he has all those medals.  I like his smile and charisma.

The Phelps thing started getting boring after the 4th medal or so. Watching him swim was like watching a tv movie drama; You know he's going to win all the gold, you know the movie's going to have a happy ending. By now hollywood execs are finding writers and actors to make a movie on Phelps' life.
