Well Merla has a chick-boner for Brenden Fraser, so I knew she'd want to see it.  I just thought it'd be "Journey to the Center of the Earth" bad, not bad-bad.

So did you decide not to use the other two as reference, or was Merla so desperate to get her squee on that not even horrible fanfic pr0n and photoshopped pictures could help?

When I heard that Rachel Weisz wouldn't be Evelyn, I blew it off.  Half the fun of the first two was the chemistry bewteen her and Fraser. They should have just written her character out.  Not everything that hits celluloid is freakin' Doctor Who with interchangeable lead characters.

I saw the X-Files flick this weekend. Totally could have waited till it came out on DVD...in fact it felt like a direct to DVD movie. It's X-files, but it's not really epic and there is nothing really new or shocking in this one. There are episodes of the show that outdid this movie and it doesn't live up to first flick at all. (Which I really liked.) Skip it, but if you like X-files see it on DVD. Just don't pay to see it on anything other then a small screen cause you are getting small screen quality here.

That's pretty much the same complaint I heard about the previous X movie, not to mention practically every other movie based on a TV series.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I saw the dark knight recently.  That's a movie worth seeing in the theater.  I was on a first date though and movies suck for first dates but we both really wanted to see this pretty bad.  But there will be plenty of  time to talk and get drinks on the 2nd date.

The theater had some shit bags talking in spanish behind us, a baby that kept trying to talk (in spanish I presume) who had to be taken out of the theater for crying at one point, and one nerd to the left of me that texted for about 20 minutes.  I wanted to rectify all of these situations the only way I know how but I didn't want to come off as a psycho.  You'd think chicks would dig it when you tell someone you're going to kill them (or eat their children as the case maybe) as an act of asserting yourself in a movie theater, but the one time I did this (I had gotten up to get a drink and when I returned the guy to the left of me had annexed my arm rest.  I moved my arm onto the rest against his and he wouldn't move until I told him that if he wants we do this right now.) the girl was shocked and thought I was crazy and that we just should've changed seats...I forgot to mention that there were plenty of seats and we could've easily just moved over...but it's the principle of thing damn it! NO ONE TAKES MY ARM REST AND LIVES TO TELL THE TALE!

Yeah, but it was really noticeable here. It wasn't even like it was a bigger more epic version of an episode like the first one was. It was just there. It was like a filler episode that they plugged in while telling the overall Mulder looking for his sister that was abducted by aliens story. The first film was grander and fit into the overall scheme of things better. It answered questions while raising othere. This film did none of that. It is totally stand alone and other then Mulder and Scully really has no connection to anything that was in the series. It was like a big screen fluke man epsiode. I was a little let down that Dogget didn't make an apperance, although Skinner did.

I have a master's in communication and media.  I'm an actor right now though and even if I wanted to get a job related to my degree I can't in this city because I'm not bilingual.  At least theres nothing non bilingual on career builder, monster.com, etc.  When I move to californee I'll see if I can get into creative development.

The Mummy franchise failed on the second movie, and I've avoided it like the plague ever since.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Maria Bello played Evelyn like a 14-year-old imitates her horny, uppercrust grandmother.  Weird.  They should've kept the following people:

Brenden Fraser
The dude that plays the brother-in-law
That hot ethnic dude, I don't know his name either.

The son should've been casted mucho younger.

Oh, and a decent plot probably would've helped.  =p

seriously, for someone who voluntarily spoils movies for herself I'd have expected you to easily avoid this obvious dog pile.

What spoilers would've helped here, genius?  Obviously, the mummies are defeated.  And I already knew it would be bad... just not this vomit-inducingly bad.  I thought I already made it clear I went because Merla wanted to see it.  I had already dragged her to Hellboy 2 and Mongol, and she didn't look really into either one so I kinda owed her.

BTW, I've enjoyed all the other Mummy movies and TSK.  So using the others as reference should mean "it's corny but not god-awful", which is obviously a lie in this instance.

Anyway, I saw "The Dark Knight".  It was an all right movie, though-- to sound terribly superficial-- Maggie Gyllenhal is almost painfully ugly to look at.  So Batman and Harvey both love this chick?  Really?  [I guess points for casting realism or something.]
Spoiler (hover to show)
And was I supposed to think of Geico everytime Michael Caine opened his mouth?

I don't know what spoilers look like.  They don't come in review form so you can gauge if the movie sucks?

What are they just a list of plot points?

The preview looked vomit inducingly bad to me.

I figured that in Hollywood, of all places, they would embrace the whole line of anti-aging products available.

In Hollywood, when you turn 40 you have to get plastic surgery so that you look younger than the 20 year olds.

Yeah I also agree with this.  I noticed it right after the harvey court case (not sure if that was her first appearance).  How is she a movie star?  Did she used to be hot and/or deliver some awesome performance or is she just Jake's sister?

She supposedly is a good actress. Frankly, I don't mind too much, though she's not stunning. Perhaps it's because she's not an idiot and has money.

There's only so much dynamic a lady love interest in an action flick can have.  I like Maggie though.  I think it's the whole "I have brains and I'm not a huge skank-whore who flashes my vagina everywhere" aspect of her character.  I liked Sherry Baby.

I think it just was the women, since everyone else was stellar. To be honest, I would have liked to see more of the ladycop who betrayed Dent and Rachael.

Yeah...did seem like there was more of a story there that they just didn't have time for.
