A recent political article in a Detroit newspaper was about the politicians stance on foreign policy, especially Iraq and Iran. In the case of Iraq, I've been surprised to hear that the Surge may have been successful and caused the country to become more stable than it has been a couple years into the war. It makes me think that pulling all the troops out suddenly might not be a good thing.

Of course, I always have felt that pulling out prematurely was a bad thing for both parties.   :makeout:  :hump:

As for Iran, one of the things that scares me the most about radical right wing Christianity is reflected in an article I read in a right wing christian political magazine. The Editor went on about Iran and stated that the best way to solve the problem with Iran was to invade and conquer and take over Iran and force a new government on them.

As much as I don't like the wackjob that runs Iran right now.... but Conquer? Apparently this editor grew up in the 1600s which would make him not much older than Rush Limbaugh and Larry King. Sure, conquering and killing native civilizations was a viable career back then, but I assume that we've evolved since then. Oh wait... I used the word evolve... the one term those extreme right wingers hate the most. :P

I would prefer talking, like Obama has suggested, rather than conquering. McCain mentions possible sanctions, but look how good those worked for Iraq. Sure Hussein didn't have any nukes, but his people were starving as well.

"an article I read in a right wing christian political magazine", eh?  Does it have a name and possibly a link?  I'm wondering if anyone credible actually said this, or if you're exaggerating again.

I'm all for blockading and embargoing the crap out of them, but the useless UN probably has more bullshit humanitarian sanctions to consider against Israel before it gets to Iran's own humanitarian troubles and nuclear ambitions.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Like anyone believes he even took the time to read a "right wing christian political magazine", let alone if it's real or not.

For you who hates religion so much to be all sympathetic with a people whose lives are run by religious zealotry is idiotic. You wanna hate religion but you just wanna whine about it?  Fuck that! We need to stomp their turbans into the dust and liberate their women.  Allah is telling these people to hate us, and they are listening.  What do you think? Making some whiny posts is going to convince them that 1000s of years of their insane doctrine is wrong?  Talks will make as much headway with these people as your posts have done to turn Squirrel atheist.

I am staunchly against government assistance for any faith-based initiatives.  The 1st amendment was meant to protect religion against government influence, and any charity accepting government assistance automatically abdicates its right to faith-based decision-making.  My pastor was head over the local Baptist association's local charity arm when Bush took office, and he found out just how much interference occurs if government help is accepted.  It's a slippery slope that charities already hamstrung due to government crap don't need to be tempted with.

The Philadelphia Trumpet... the issue was sometime earlier this year.

Of course, the people who publish this sound really extreme right wing and may not symbolize mainstream christianity... but it's only the idiotic extremists that really scare me.

Including the ones running Isreal AND Iran.

I wouldn't place any stock in that publication...followers of the old Armstrong cult run it.

As for Israel, the only ones who should be scared of them are those who're actively seeking to destroy it as a nation and those who help them.  Last time I checked, there were Palestinian Arabs in the Israeli Knesset, and the nation didn't attack people who didn't attack them first.

That's hardly axiomatic.  There are good extremes.

Only example I can think of, frankly.

I think even that could be dangerous...especially if it's not returned. I'm sure if you experienced extreme joy non-stop it'd kill you.

They 90s where ok. I enjoyed the alternative music, but they couldn't hold a handle to the 80s for pure awesome.
