Went to the
North American International Auto Show, which is like the E3 Expo for the automotive world, and of course is held in Detroit, the auto capitol of the world. Got free tickets from my dad who works in a service department at a dealership.
They had a bunch of Chinese automakers there for the first time, and amusingly they were all sent into the basment area which is small and about 1/5th the size of the main hall. The main hall's about 1 million square feet. One Chinese automaker was showing off a hybrid car they made as if the Chinese themselves invented Hybrids. I bet that's what the Chinese government said:
"We invented Hybrids, not those western pigs! We also invented the Internet, refridgerators, the auto, the computer, the TV, spaceships, and civilization itself. Heil Communism!"
Most of the concept cars were just more of "something futuristic that we won't actually build and involves some sort of alternative fuel, hybrid system, flex fuel system, or all of the above". The trend this year leaned towards plug-in hybrids like the Volt (which was there) and other alt-fuel and low gas milage cars.
