No one's sure.  No one's sure because the family is full of idiots who haven't had him diagnosed.  All I know is the likelyhood of him being treated as a freak his entire life is great.  This is the same family that would rather buy bootleg movies than insulin.  Also, their little girl broke her nose and they never fixed it.  (It healed, but now she breathes funny.)

I had a friend whose little brother was autistic, and his doctor made him take fish oil pills for it. I have no idea what fish oil will do for autism, though.
Fish is brainfood, do a google search on omega-3 fatty acids if you really want to know

I hate you guys now :(

I could have given a great Anime speech, I didn't even need to study that much, I could have winged it.

Instead, I had to think of another topic, decided on Identity theft the day before the speech was due.

Then today, I had to work 8 hours, and my bitch of a manager wouldn't let me leave early even though we had 6 people working that day. And she wonders why I was snappy and being a smartass towards her.

Finally, I left, and tried to finish up my speech but I was still short on info.

The class started, and it was my turn to go up, and I wasn't well prepared. The teach had to poke fun at me. "It's your turn to do your speech, are you ready? Do you have ANYTHING? You won't be able to do it again." And of course, everyone was staring at me.

I did the speech, but It wasn't very good, I didn't get a lot of info. I think I only got 50% on it. And everyone poked fun at me anyway.

Shit, I got a bad grade on my speech, and people teased me. I should have just done the anime speech, gotten an A, and if I got beat up, beat them up back. A good letter grade is worth a black eye and a bloody nose.

What pissed me off is that the teacher forced me up to do my speech. She was like "Come on Doug, do it."

I also hate it when teachers discuss your grade or a late paper to the entire class. One teacher told me "Your paper is late, I need it in now so you can pass this class," all loud like so the entire class knew I had a late paper. To me, that's private into that only me and the teacher should know about.
Well look at it this way Dougie, considering you're such a whiny stupid bitch, chances are you would have sucked at your speech anyway. But at least our advice saved you the well-deserved beating.

Actually, my previous 2 speeches got As.

I blame it on you guys as well as myself.

I blame you guys from discouraging me. I might have gotten beat up, but at least I'd have a better chance of passing the speech and the class. Plus, half the class are adults over the age of 25, so I'd doubt I'd get beat up, I'd probably just get teased a little and that's it.

I also blame myself for letting your opinions sway me. I should have just said "fuck others opinions, I'll do whatever the fuck I want."

Now that that's done.

I have a demonstrational speech coming up. What should I do it on? It has to be something I can demonstrate using real objects, or pictures (the teacher said pictures because someone's gonna demonstrate an oil change).

I've been thinking of something computer. What is the one thing that MOST people don't know how to do on the computer that would be easy to describe in 10 minutes or less?
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

How dare you blame us!  No one said you had to follow any advice you were given.  And now you are asking for more advice?  Why should anyone offer any just so you can go and blame them when things don't go the way you wanted.  You also shouldn't wait to the last minute and spend more time researching your topic.  The more imformed you are the more confident you will be.

No, just blame yourself.  Your speech, your problem.  Ass.

Um...Doug, I really don't want to be rude, but:

 - it seems that most of us gave our opinion based on our own not-very-positive experiences with expressing a fondness for anime to those not familiar with it.  Considering the difficulty you had cited in an earlier thread regarding starting an anime club at your school, I, for one, had gotten the impression the subject was not well-received amongst your peers.

 - Anyone asking for an opinion does so with the full realization that experiences occur on a case-by-case basis.  There is no control, only variables.

 - Speeches are judged on a plethora of factors - posture, ease at the poduim, body language, verbal and communication skills.  You could be the caliber of orator that would made Barack Obama fall to the ground intoning his unworthiness and have a voice to make Alan Rickman squirm with envy, thus ensuring that a speech on any category chosen would leave your audience stomping and screaming for more - we don't know this.  We can't see you. We can't hear you.

I will offer one piece of unsolicted advice:  for judgement calls of this nature, perhaps it would be best to ask someone IRL in the future, and do so in a timely manner.  I get the impression that valuable prep time was wasted awaiting board opinions.
