Ok, so for an easy A, I've decided to do my next speech on anime.

However, since I'd be speaking for an hour and boring my class to death if I don't narrow my topic, I have to figure out what to talk about that will fit in 10 minutes or less.

I'm thinking of starting it as "Anime is not just pokemon, yugioh, and DBZ, but more interesting, non-childish stuff." but I'm not sure where to go from there.

I'm still nervous about looking like a deranged otaku up there ( I guess it can't be that bad, it's not like I'll be cosplaying during the speech). It could be worse, I could be talking about Star Trek, or Transformers and how the next model is so sweet, or if I was a furry talking about furries and wearing a fursuit and whining that I'm being fursecuted. There are nerdier topics.

All I want to know is:

Are all your classmates hopeless nerds like you, or is there a reasonable chance you'd be beat up after class and robbed of your lunch money?
It'd be a shame if a fine speech on anime by you wouldn't get rewarded by celebratory dunking your head in a toilet after class.

I did a speech on anime in class (high school) and it came out like crap. I found I couldn't make a decent speech due to my past bias with anime. And I did look like a deranged otaku doing so. So I would advise against it. Find an easier topic... like abortion.

Do a speech on the growing problem with mood-altering drugs being prescribed to children instead. Then post it so I can use it in the short story my mom's making me write on the subject.

Do not even address or acknowledge this idea in any way with your speech. It is demeaning to thousands of fans, to whom you are speaking, and mostly you. Just elaborate maturely on the definition of anime. Try to concentrate on how outlandishly "clumped" it all is in many artistic and intellectual circles in this country. You know, how people say "my favorite anime" or "the best anime" as though anime is a style or even a genre. I would just try to get across how ludirously wide of a defintion anime is supposed to be.

My sophomore English teacher let me do an essay on how St*r WarzzZZ compared to great science fiction movies of the past.

I'd like to flatter myself & say it had to do with his anticipation of my literary approach of the subject matter, but since my girlfriend always wanted to poke his eyes out for staring at my chest, it probably didn't. <_<

I too did a speech in high school about Anime.

Maybe you could focus on certain series, point out their difference in style, story line, maturity rating, etc.

Now that that's finished, help me come up with an informative topic!

I did a speech in high school for academic decathalon. It was about how prisoners abuse the law libraries in prison so they in turn can abuse the system. Prisoners sued for midol, tampons, and birth control pills among other needless things. These are male prisoners BTW.

Anime is a pretty dorky topic, but I was trying to go easy this time. Next time I have to make a demonstrational speech and I have no idea on what topic to do (it has to be something I can demonstrate in front of the class). I would like to demonstrate Karma Sutra sexual positions in front of the class, but the teacher is keeping it pg13 rated or below.

Well if we're gonna do cartoon confessions I do admit that I download Aqua Teen Hunger Force every week. Master Shake and the Mooninites are my heroes!
Then again I got no beef against comedy cartoons, but what I've seen of anime the cartoons are more like a soap opera then anything else. I just completely fail to see the point of it.

But in any case noone in their 20s should hold a descriptional speech about a cartoon genre in front of classmates and not get beat up afterwards.

After some thought, I have to agree with Rumble to some extent, as much as I love anime. Not that you'd deserve getting whupped, but that you probably will. Maybe a cute girl could get away with it, but I'm afraid you're going to experience one of three reactions:

1) Yawn....Dragonball Z cartoons....

2) Who the fuck is this fag?

3) An-a-may? That sounds FRANCH! Yew some kinda TERRARIST?

Of course, if there's an Adult Swim fanbase and you can do a tie-in, you may be the toast of the class. I'd stay away from Reign: the Conqueror and Gundam Wing - safety first.
