Sunday night I watched the new American Gladiators. I was happy to see they had a lot of the old challenges in this one, including the Joust, the ring swing, and the one where the Gladiator stands on a platform with a gatling gun, and the contestant has to use weapons to hit a target above the gladiator while the gladiator pelts balls at them.
But where's the Gerbil balls?!
Star Trek Remastered has been playing first on ABC 7 and now CW 50 on Sundays at Midnight. Basically it's like the Star Trek version of St*r WarzzZZ DVD Special Edition, in other words Paramount pulled a George Lucas. The footage has been cleaned up, and all the space shots are now in CG. I don't know if I like this change or not. Part of what made Star Trek cool was the shitty special effects. In some ways it's an improvement, it's great to actually see the Enterprise in certain shots where it wasn't shown in the original version (certain battles and exterior shots, ect), but the Enterprise is obviously CG (why didn't they just use a model like they did in EVERY STAR TREK SERIES?), and some of the effects look worse. The episode that night was the Apollo one, and Apollo's tractor beam looked like a giant hand and the explosion of Apollo's temple looked even worse. But the new CG Giant planet-eating blue sno-cone looked cool.
And then there was SG-1 episode where they're in some sort of other reality and a director is trying to make a SG-1 movie, and they spoof other sci-fi series. Is SG-1 ever serious?
