Benazir Bhutto

Anyone have anything to say about the subject?  I read that the assassination attempt before the one that succeeded involved a baby rigged with explosives.  And I have the feeling the minute her son gets back over there, he's going to be killed.   :(

She was a brave but especially foolish lady.  There was no way her opposition was going to let her come to powet again, especially considering the particular barbarism of those opposing her.  Maybe she was willing to bet that she'd win either way...that she would either lead the new parliament as PM or die a martyr and galvanize the people of Pakistan against the asshat on the other side?  Who knows.

I saw a lot of coverage of this after it happened because my boyfriend lost the remote to his TV and we were stuck watching CNN for a few days.

Some people were trying to say that she wasn't actually assassinated but rather suffered severe head trauma from supposedly hitting her head while trying to duck into her car.  They never even did an autopsy on her before burying her so we might never know.

She was still a handsome woman at 54 - she was gorgeous when she was younger.  With her looks and education, she could have had her choice of wealthy men from several countries and an easy life as a society leader or an ambassador's wife, but she chose to try to improve her country, danger to herself be damned.  That alone is admirable.
