Keep your sister with you and in school (or getting her GED) if at all possible, even if you have to put up with a crazy grandmother. Never thought I'd say this, but if you can get some kind of work with an insurance company or agency in reception or the mail room and stick with it for a year or two, they're probably the best currently at promoting women; even better than banks. Mortgage companies are death right now. Once you're both adults, you can make your own ways, but right now sanity & survival are the keys. A steady income makes that a lot easier.
I feel for you. My younger nephew and his girlfriend are getting married in January because she'll be turning 21 and still has a year to go on her degree, but her dad & stepmom are all "you're 21, get out of the house, but don't you DARE live with a guy, even the one you've been going with for five years and are planning to marry anyway".
