I'm trying to buy a new car and I were in this one area and every single dealership wants at least 10K for every car.  We're talking about 03 ford focus cars included.  The thing is they don't want to sell the cars outright they want to finance you with shit payments that enslave their fellow neighborhood fresh off the boat/border construction workers for the rest of their interest paying lives.  Then when said chump can't make the payment for whatever reason they repo it and resell it to another unsuspecting fool.  Whilst perusing these indentured servant mobiles this mexican chick kept looking at me.  It was like she'd never seen a white person before...in fact that's probably exactly what it was. They had to get us an interpreter at 2 of these places.  The only reason we were even in this area was because I found some cars that were too good to be true on vehix and lo and behold when we got there they were "already sold" all 5 of them...imagine that.

Its like I'm an elf here and this is the 4th age of man.  Most of my kind has left for the shining realm of manwe.  Some of the men still speak our ancient beautiful language but it has for the most part passed into antiquity.

It's a good thing I took notes from the beginning and could say "Yea, but didn't you offer it to me for $1000 last week?" Pay attention and take detailed notes about the autos you look at, including blue book pricing and stuff, and you can nail these suckers every time.

So did I. Why do you think I was able to get my car for the $1000 even though when I went to get the car he had raised the price of it to nearly $2000? Anyway, what kind of car did you get?

That's a new car though, I wouldn't want a lease anyway (the car depreciates at least 30% in the first year alone), and I don't know if I could afford $250 a month. A Mazda 6 is a sweet car though.

Quick story, me and Kary are both sitting in class about 3 years ago in a biology lab (Dumb required courses). We're sitting there waiting to see the new Ghost in the Shell movie (one of the only animes that do it for me) so we're looking at our watches alot. One of our lab group sees this and inquires. He's a guy who brags how he steals all his books, the rest of the group are frat boys and sorrority gurls. When we tell them why, we get this:

OH! THE ANIME MOVIE!? You know what's a great anime?! DRAGON BALL Z!

Then 4 of the 5 other members (Girl included, only one girl didn't know about anime) proceeded to talk all about their love of DBZ, Sailor Moon, Knights of the Zodiac, etc. I was crying from the hillarity, they talked about it for the rest of the class. I still don't remember what lab project we were SUPPOSED to do.

Spoken like someone who has no idea how a lease works.

Its not your car.  you only lease it.  you're not held responsible for how much its worth in 3 years.  You turn in your car and if the buyout is thousands more than the value of the vehicle, then you let the bank worry about it.
 
People who buy Minivans and SUVs make me laugh.  in 3 years, the market will be even worse.  they'll be paying for a car thats worth half what they owe.

get a lease, get gap insurance, never own a car again.  or buy a cheap car outright and drive it for as long as the repair bill is less than a payment.

I haven't been in the car business long, but I'm pretty sure I can give advice whenever its needed provided you leave your assumptions at the door because its amazing how many people have it absolutely wrong.

oh yeah, and theres a dealer like that here too.  its a joke, only suckers shop there.  if you're looking for a car for less than 10k, go to craigslist.  buy an import.  don't buy a ford.  buy a honda, toyota, mazda, or nissan.  something with a good reliability reccord.  a honda engine will run to  200,000 miles, but people get stupid and sell them at 100,000.   you're out of warranty and it won't be the newest car in the world, but you'll get reliable transportation for the next 7 years.  just make sure you've got a mechanic you trust who works on imports, or a dealer service department.

Exactly. I bought a used car worth 10,000 or so, the tradein after 4 years was about 3k, and it was in perfect condition. My payments for the paidfor car was the same as the lease, and my lease is only a few bucks more.

Well I kept looking for a car and eventually ended up getting another 01 ford taurus.  I paid 4900 for it and it has 38K miles on it.  It's an LX which is a step down from my last model.  This one just like the last one was owned by a little old lady.  It seems to be my lot in life to take cars off of elderly women and then ride them into the ground.
