Political Indecision?
« on: Dec 10, 2007, 11:20:43 AM »
I'm a Hillary boy.

Now what I ask is, who cares about Oprah? I know all the hype Obama has (But he's a lying sack of crap who works for corporations also), but does anyone here give a rats ass about her choice? We all know why she picked him OVER Alan Keys, so what does she really give him?

I think the differences between her Iowa speech and her S. Carolina Speech (one was in 'black speek', guess which one!) will end up hurting him with whites and hispanics. They know why she's doing this, so why give her credit?

Read it over again.  It makes no sense to the casual reader.

It makes perfect sense to me.

Sam's right. I figured out who was who (without the old eyes answer key) but there's something off in the delivery.  Also I need to register to vote down here.  I haven't been paying much attention to the races either.  Out of who is left which of them really hate illegal immigrants?

Tancredo is the only one who took that position. Otherwise, most don't care because no matter what it's not what we do in this country that will stop the wetbacks from coming in, it's what goes on in Mexico.

We should just surgical strike the fuckin capital and move in our own leadership. Like Iraq, but we could ship the illegals back as soldiers. ^_^

Yeah, I'm against an invasion of Iraq, but Mexico is a corrupt shithole that needs to be clensed.

Tom Tancrazy is just too right wing when it comes to shit like stem cells, raping the environment, etc.  I don't know...I might still vote for him but I wish there was someone with more libertarian views that was also ready to spend billions of dollars to shut down mexico.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to third that.  I think the separation between the two lower paragraphs and the addition of another name (Keys) helps fuel the confusion.

If anything, Oprah hopping on board the Obama train kinda makes me like him less.  It's like, "Ooooh, vote for him because he's young and black and Oprah likes him".  You know who else Oprah likes?  Criss Angel.  Yeeeeah.  It's not that I really love Hilary, she just looks like she has the best chance for the Dems and I don't know who the hell the Republican frontrunner is.  Also, Hill's pro-choice.

I always chuckle when people bring up an issue like that in reference to a candidate (like Liberman) as if it's at all important.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/12/11/poll-oprah-could-have-negative-effect-on-obama/

Quote
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Oprah Winfrey's campaign swing last weekend with Democrat Barack Obama was greeted with record-breaking crowds and an equal amount of speculation over how much impact the media mogul might have on the White House race.

After all, Oprah has sent several books to the top of the bestseller list. Why couldn’t that magic touch take a candidate to the top of the polls?

But a new survey out Monday night shows Winfrey's endorsement is unlikely to nudge Obama higher in the polls -– and could potentially hurt the Illinois senator.

According a New York Times/CBS News poll released Monday, only 1 percent of Democrats polled reported that Winfrey's endorsement would make them more likely to support Obama, while 14 percent said they would be less likely to vote for the candidate because of Winfrey's support.

Meanwhile, rival Hillary Clinton's biggest celebrity endorser — her husband Bill Clinton — is likely to have more of an impact. The poll suggests 44 percent of Democrats are more likely to support the New York senator because of her famous husband, while only 7 percent are less likely to do so.

In fact, the former president is such a campaign asset that according to the poll, roughly as many Democrats are supporting the New York senator because of her husband as are supporting her because of her experience. Twenty-six percent of Hillary Clinton's supporters name Bill Clinton as the top reason they are backing her, while 23 percent say her own experience is the biggest factor.

Honestly, I'm put off my Oprah. She's super rich, so she benefits from Bush's policies more than anyone. That crack that she's voted for republicans she made is highly unlikely, and since when is she a connection to the black community of America? I see more black people in Springer's Audience.

I wonder who he's supporting...

I hate that most people want to vote for Hillary just so that Bill would be back in the White House.  I'm sure he'll have an impact on what Hillary does in her presidency (if she wins), but he's not going to be president again, people!

Someone gave me a flyer for Ron Paul for President at school. It says he's against the draft, war against Iran, the war in Iraq, the Patriot Act, the War on Drugs, and Corporate Welfare. It says he's for capturing Bin Ladin, personal freedoms, health freedom, alternative medicine, hemp, and enviromentalism. But he's also Republican, which raises serious flags. So I decided to look him up.

Ron Paul's Issues:
  • Conservative Republican
  • Pro-Life
  • Favors Withdraw from NATO and the UN
  • Is a Congressman from Texas
  • Tried to pass a bill that would make Abortion be considered as Murder, as well as outlaw Stem Cell Research. "I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn."
  • Tried to pass another bill that would forbid abortion and gay relationship cases from being heard by the Supreme Court
  • Supports strict rules against Immigrants and supports the border wall
  • Is against birthright citizenship, which means if Nuri's ancestors came over illegally, she'd be fucked too
  • Is against gun control
  • Fights against government spending and wants to lower taxes
  • Is against the Patriot Act and the National ID
  • Is for Internet Freedom
  • Is against overseas torture of terrorist suspects
  • Is indeed against the war in Iraq and against war in Iran, but supports the war against Afganistan.
  • Supports making stronger ties to other governments and using diplomacy rather than bombs
  • Wants to fix Social Security
  • Believes in healthcare reform
  • Fights for the enviroment
  • is against taxing tips
  • Is against racism

If you only pay attention to a canidate's issues that you agree with, you'll miss the issues you don't agree with. He sounds like an okay guy for a lot of the issues, but some of them scare me. It's up to what you believe in.

I like this birth right citizenship a lot though! I'd never even though of that!  Stop the whole anchor baby thing. I want someone to stop making it legal for cubans to just jump off a raft and live here too.  Everyone who wants to come here needs to go through the proper channels to live here just like every other fucking country in the world.

What's wrong with the war in Afghanistan?

It failed because we've diverted too many troops to Iraq. If we would have stayed out of Iraq we would have had plenty of troops to clean up the country and keep the Taliban out, and probably would have caught Bin Laden as well.

Yeah I like that war.

Only if it's people having babies just to stay. If the child's a teenager it would be cruel. "Hey 14-year-old-kid, you can stay in the country, you're a full citizen, but your parents have to go back to mexico. I hear McDonalds hires kids your age."

If you were in immediate physical reach, I'd go right up to you and kick you in the balls.  What the fuck are you smoking?  How would I be fucked?  While I do not know the specifics of my great-grandparents, all four of my grandparents are/were (past tense because two of them have passed on) citizens of this country.  They had long since made lives for themselves while the barely developed fetuses of millions of future illegals were still dreaming about one day swimming their way to "The Promiseland" in the faraway future known as the 1940's.  That "birthright citizen" problem is Jose and Maria San Mexicanos wading over here tomorrow and pooping Jose Jr. on U.S. soil, automatically making Jose Jr. a citizen despite the fact that his parents came here illegally and don't even have any pre-established life in this country.  It's not even close to pertaining to me.  Even if it did, what would they do, Un-Americanize me?  The cloud of retardness that surrounds you is so potent, it seeped through my internet connection and gave all of the eggs in my left ovary Down Syndrome.  Jesus Christ.

Oprah's audience is 90% older, ignorant, upper middle-class white women whose worse problems range from which decorating tips to take from Nate to how many of Oprah's Favorite Things they'll buy this year.  Last week, they called "Eat Pray Love", a book about some spoiled author's 'journey of self discovery', the Bible for women.  The Bible.  Good fuck.  I can see how anyone would be put off by Oprah.  Her background of adversity I think forever resonates strongly with the black community, but as far as her actual show and magazine go, there's a huge disconnect from what I can see.

Unlike many celebrities, she's never openly endorsed a political candidate before.  That's giving the endorsement a little more clout from the get-go. If Hil & Barak would both chell their egos and join up as pres/VP, they'd win easily.

I have no answer to the illegal immigration issue.  I remember when people were going back & forth across the bridge in Brownsville all day long.  I think one had to have a guest worker permit for employment in a chain store/office/corporation, but domestic help and mom&pop places hired half of Matamoros. They'd come across in the morning, get paid in US dollars, buy US goods and go home - everybody benefited.

Politicians are having to teeter on a very fine line; not just because of half-legal families with a vote or two to cast - eliminating the illegal work force will increase prices drastically.  It's a given.  People want no illegals and they want Americans to fill the jobs illegals currently do - it may happen, but not under the current work conditions of 12-14 hour days and no benefits.  Those benefits cost the employer money, and they're not going to suck up the costs in the interest of being patriotic - costs will be passed on to the consumers, most of whom are going to have a fit.

Hillary's the stronger personality, and Barack wouldn't take VP to a woman.

And alot of people are pissed because she's black, and the only canidate she has endorsed is... a black man. Not a rich woman, like she is, but a half-black man with a muslim name who did drugs. TELL ME Middle America will vote for him, and I'll call you an idiot. He needs to be a Senator, anways. As a black leader his position as head of a key committee would help detract from retards like Al Sharpton.

I wish Biden and Richardson would do better.

Only if it's people having babies just to stay. If the child's a teenager it would be cruel. "Hey 14-year-old-kid, you can stay in the country, you're a full citizen, but your parents have to go back to mexico. I hear McDonalds hires kids your age."

I don't care if it's cruel.  The problems they're causing are cruel to actual citizens. What do you mean "you're a full citizen"? I thought the whole point is: If your parents are illegals YOU are an illegal too and can gtfo with them.  Wasn't there some little shit trying to get financial aid for college awhile ago?  I'd kick that fuck out of here myself.
