I waited so many years to see this book (my favorite) turned into a movie. I already shred a couple of tears when watching the trailer ::)

I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

Book to film adaptions rarely live up to the printed word. I can count the number that have for me on one hand.

I opened the paper the other day and saw the poor review for it and shook my head thinking "Oop, Faye ain't gonna like this."  Guess it was a spot-on opinion.

what did they say about it, besides being super long? I think they weren't able to succesfully resume the whole movie in 2 hours and twenty something minutes, and there wasn't much time to develop each character in depth

Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Harry Potter Movies
Interview with the Vampire (but not Queen of the Damned.)
Some of the James bond movies (counting these as one too. But my list includes Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, and Casino Royale. Most of the rest varied too much from the books for my taste even if I did enjoy them.)

Well it was in last Friday's paper and I don't have it anymore.  I don't recall the length being one of their issues with it though.  Personally, I knew for sure it couldn't be good when the preview on tv pronounced the author's name "Gabrielle".

You forgot the Lion Witch and Wardrobe movie that came out a few years ago. Although not spot on, I was rather pleased with the adaptation.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

That movie is forever ruined for me by that fucking bitch who wouldn't STFU.  Everytime I'm reminded of that movie, it's the first thing I think of and I get angry.  I can also never watch the Naomi Watts version of "the Ring" either, but I'm not really missing much there.

Ahh I kneww it! The only good thing in that movie is Javier Bardem's acting skills. God that guy is GOOD. and of course my fellow peruvian hunk, Benjamin Bratt, makes it more attractive (not as good actor as Javier though)

Yeah it was. I guess it just slipped my mind cause I didn't enjoy it. I've read the books and they read like the children's Christian primer. I am Christian and I was taken back by how in your face it is in the books. It’s not that obvious in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but it’s much more blatant in later books. I loved C.S. Lewis style, but what he wrote.... ehhhh. That and he has obsession with heather. Every five fucking minutes he's talking about how nice it is to sleep on. I get it...you like it, it's comfy.

The Lion novel never made me think it was Christian... but then the last time I read it I was 8. Either way, the movie was good. I felt it tried to be LotR way too many times, though.

It's not really so in your face in Lion, but in later books it is very much. I mean  Aslan is the son of the Great Emperor from across the sea who came to Narina and allowed himself to be killed so he could save everyone. Seems like I read that someplace before.

Thats right I forgot all about the great emperor.  I read all the books a long time ago as a kid and I recognized the allegory but that wasn't the problem the other books just seemed less entertaining and epic on the whole.

Valley of the Dolls was a great book but a terrible movie.  Mainly because it was teh 60's and most of what happened in the book couldn't be translated onto the big screen.

The wife forgave the mistress for she only entertained.

They were pretty faithful to the book. Which is what I'm counting on here. Not really the merit of the book it was based on.

Although I did enjoy the Potter books they are far from my Fav. which is DUNE. Which still hasn't got a faithful film telling. There are parts from both DUNE movies that are close to the book...but both move away from it as well. If I had to pick one though I'd go with the 84 Lynch version. It just seemed more epic the the Mini-series.

Fuck yeah it did.  I never finished the mini series but I did like the walk the golden path concept.  Did he turn into a worm?
