Halo 3 has arrived!
« on: Sep 25, 2007, 08:14:07 AM »
But not here! We probably won't be getting it until tomorrow.

Note: Anyone posts spoilers of the games story in this thread without the appropriate safeguards will be blatantly edited by me, myself, and I. Once I have played the game through, then you may post spoilers, though I'd still prefer the safeguards. MAXCON, I'M LOOKING AT YOU.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

Well yeah you can edit the spoilers but not before you yourself are spoiled and since you're probably the only one who cares on this board that would be like 100% victory for *starts to sweat* someone who *gulp* enjoys that sort *shiver* of thing.

THE COVENANT WERE HERE BEFORE US! THEY ARE THE SOURCE OF LIFE ON THIS PLANET!
(jk I haven't read the spoilers)

Why not just let people us Spoiler tags. It's going to be so long before I can get a 360 that being able to avoid spoilers myself is not going to be possible. And I knew how Halo and Halo 2 ended before I played them and it didn't really ruin the fun for me.

Dual shotgun thingies! Halowned!

Edit: That's what they're called... Type-52 "Mauler" pistols. I was fucking pwning these two guys with these so badly that they double teamed my ass, but not before I had a 6-kill spree.

Dual wield Spikers are pretty badass too. Melee with those bitches? OUCH!

The Spartan Laser sucks ass if you're just killing one person. Against a vehicle (except the ghosts) they're pretty badass though.

I have to lol at that wiki. They don't list the games those weapons appear in, but I think all three of them are Halo 3 only.

Our rec center had a huge HD tv with Halo 3 hooked up to it and I was owning 3 other bitches in it.

I have one big bitch about Halo 3. There's co-op through the campaign, but you can't join the single player in the middle of a game, you have to start a new one to do co-op. Come on Bungie, how hard is it it make it so you can add co-op players in the middle of a single player campaign?!

I have seen the ending. Spoiler: Master Chief takes off his helmet to reveal himself to be none other than Richard B. Riddick.

I almost said Chuck Norris but I remembered that Norris jokes died with the mastadons.

Well if you knew some ass hole was going to mug you, and you couldn't do anything to stop it, you might as well just hand it over to the first  douche bag you see and get it over with.

It's unreasonable to expect people to keep from posting spoiler for 5 months till I can get a 360. So I'd rather just spoil it myself then try to keep from it only to have someone do it without me knowing and ruining it. Really had nothing to do with "Showing" anyone anything.

I manage to dodge spoilers for movies and shows all the time.  Step one to not getting spoiled for Halo 3 is not reading Halo 3 threads.  real fans won't spoil.  i wouldn't spoil Halo 2 now.  The harry potter douche bags spoilers don't cover all forms of entertainment.  you do the narrative and the artists a disservice.

I'm just saying you're letting the d-bags win.

but on to more interesting topics..

Oct 6 will be the first official Powet Game Night for Halo 3, and we're cueing up a couple dozen forge variations and customs for full rooms and will probably play some co-op to get achievements and points that are otherwise unavailable alone.

And all I'm saying is that I got to a big Halo night thing with around 30 some odd people (we don't get to play on Xbox live around here cause of the almost total lack of High Speed internet) and then I have a much smaller group (3-4) that come over every Sun and play at my house. Some of these people will have played Halo 3 and since this is the the big get together they are going to talk about it. I can't avoid spoilers without being a total dickhead or not going (which is hard for the one I host) and I don't really want to do either. It's not as easy as just avoiding threads for me. I don't think those people should have to curb their excitement about Halo 3 when I'm around just cause I'm a poor son of a bitch that can't get a 360 till he gets his Tax Return.

I pity anyone who hasn't seen St*r WarzzZZ.  the revelation at the end of Empire that Darth Vader, the worst fucker in the universe, is Luke's father is one of the greatest examples of "oh SHIT" plot twists in history.  Sadly, this spoiler is such common knowledge, you'd have a hard time finding anyone who doesn't know it, even amoung people who never watch the movies.  Plus, dumbass george went and made 3 movies worth of spoilers with the prequels, so anyone watching in order is unimpressed by the greatest plot turn in all 6 movies.

I never thought about it that way.  I wonder if now that the new movies are done and no one is talking about it if it's possible for kids to reach an age where they can appreciate that plot twist without being spoiled.

But I thought Galvitron was Megatron?

Are you saying that a twist like that is predictable by a 9 year old...

Too bad the topic shifted from Halo 3.

My favorite weapon I've fallen in love with is this giant energy hammer these enormous brutes carry around. I've nicknamed it "the ban hammer". It bans you. From life.

The Chopper's also cool but a pain to steer.

A lot of fun!

Plus who cares if the topic went off course, I didn't read it anyways.   We could be talking about Tampons...

I do as well. I'll often read the end of a book first. And then it become about how that happen and sometimes actually makes the read better because I have a goal to shoot for. It's like the that old saying "It's about the Journey, not the destination."

Besides I've had both Halos spoiled for me and I still bought both of them and have played them both a lot, and that's not counting all the Multi-Player matches I've been in. And I gave Bungie my money, I doubt they care if I spoiled myself or not as long as they get a pay chell every week.

Yeah, I think it's a matter of how you view a story.  I accept that reading spoilers first doesn't work for a lot of people and sometimes I don't want things spoiled so I will avoid spoilers.  Usually at that point, I just avoid discussion boards until I've seen whatever.

It just hasn't happened lately that I come across a story I want to do that with.  I've had a lot of disinterest in things that have come out lately.  With movies, with anime, it all starts to blend in and look alike and steal from within their respective genres.  So a lot of times I'm on the fence about something.  If I read the spoilers and come across something good, I'll then go see the movie or whatever and have a good time with it.

I can't deny the goodness of seeing something unexpected and getting a surprise.  Such as in Kyo Kara Maoh!, which I even read spoilers on, I somehow missed

Spoiler (hover to show)

so it was a neat WTF moment for me. And when I saw "Pitch Black" at the theater, I saw it cold.  I didn't have the slightest inkling what it was about.  And then you have that new Jodie Foster pic where no amount of spoiling would've made it more watchable or any less cliched.  What I'm trying to say is that for me it's not so defeatest as "they'll spoil me anyway" and more like screening something to see if it's worth my time to begin with.  And I stand by my point that a genuinely good story can not be ruined with spoilers.  Many people already had read Lord of Rings.  It don't think it really hampered the enjoyment for any of them.
