I finally watched The Hills Have Eyes
« on: Sep 21, 2007, 01:56:18 PM »
I don't think I'm quite ready to watch the sequel yet.  I buried my face during most of that scene in the trailer.   :puke:

Now, I'm not one who is easily offended or grossed out but that was a bit too gruesome for me.  Most newer scary movies are which makes me extremely hesitant to go see them.  It makes me wonder about the mentality of the people making these movies.  "Yea, let's tie the dad to a crucifix type thing, set him on fire and have the mutants rape the teenage daughter."   WTF??  ???

I thought I was going to have nightmares last night.
The wife forgave the mistress for she only entertained.

I refuse to see that crap!  And arn't there like 2 sequels or something? Horrifying.

Beck and I were just talking the other day about how we would like to see a scary movie but we really don't care for whats out there including the old stuff like Freddy, Jason, and Pin head.

Most movies now days go for the gross out and shock factor more then real scares. It takes an artist to build suspense and then scare you real good. It takes a idiot with a gallon of fake blood and a make up artist to gross you out.

Mario Bava's Black Sunday still creeps me out and it was made in 1960.

I should say that while I do not at all sympathize with Chelsey"s sentiments, I do indeed empathize.

It is officially impossible for anyone to have any further comments on the nature of horror in cinema. Ever.
You either like horror, you dont like horror, or you have a bunch of obnoxious shit to say that you feel everyone might not have yet heard.

I didn't watch all of the hills have eyes.  I saw the rape scene just to see what everyone was going on about it wasn't that crazy but it did evoke the feeling of ultimate defilement and instill the need for vengeance to be had via the main character (that hipster hero guy with the horn rimmed glasses).

That movie lost me as soon as I heard about a rape scene.  In general I don't like gross things anyway.

That part was FUCKED UP. I have such a weakness point when I see a "father" being murdered in a movie. Dear lord.

Hmm... father figure... murdered *takes down notes*

This explains a lot... *jots down notes like he's Freud*
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I'd love to see a movie that scared the shit out me, but not a single person died. That would be a work of art.

You'd just need a twist ending where it was all a dream or an insane delusion of one of the characters.

Well that's not what I meant really. I mean no one gets killed ever on screen. Basicly take the fear of death, or pain or the like and replace it with another fear. Like fear of the unknown, fear of change...just something that doesn't have to do with a crazy guy hacking bits off people or murderous ghost/Zombies/Vampires/Werewolfs. Do something more Hitchcock like. (and yes I know people died in a lot of his scary movies.) M. Night is kinda good at that sort of thing, but I think he is overated some.

I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

There you go again getting all wishy washy and moderate when we had a good chain of people who liked the movie going.

I've never seen the movie. But if I did, I'd fourth that.
