I was going to post about this yesterday but I forgot.

A co-worker pointed out to me that their was a wallet sitting on a table.  I look and sure enough there was.  There was a book bag on the fool and a coffe mug next to the wallet.  The other tables had people but none of them appeared to notice.  Another co-worker though it might belong to this one woman who was at the reference desk asking the librarian a question, but I didn't think so because the wallet did not appear to be a woman's wallet.  I went to ask if it was hers anyway and would you know the wallet was hers.  I swear sometimes people forget they are not at home.

This incident reminded me one that happened a couple of years back.  Every summer the Univesity play host to different summer programs for high school students (PREP, upward bound, early college, etc.).  A group of about 7 girls came into the library, stayed about an hour and then left.  Later on someone tells me that their are all these purses sitting on a couch but no one is around.  :o I go collect them and place them on a book cart behind the counter.  Later on their sponser comes in for something and I tell him about the purses.  He cannot believe the girls just up and left them there.  :joe: Later all the girls come for their purses and I give each and everyone a good talking to.  Some people it seems are born without common sense.   ::)

If your library isn't used as a free day care, feel free to praise Cthulhu or the Flying Spaghetti Monster or whomever.  I've heard some amazing horror stories from a librarian friend.

We've had to call the police a few times.  We do not allow children under 14 unsupervised.  Once a woman left her 12 year old daughter here and some homeless guy hit on her.  The woman then got upset with us.   :raiseeyebrow:

That wallet may have belonged to the poor fool stuck under the book bag.

Like all government jobs, though.... hours are a difficult concern.

I'm not sure I am following you.
If you are not full-time, you will never, ever get more than 19 hours. Strictatiously enforced.

Well that wouldn't be so bad. I'm just looking to make a little cash. Not really looking for a full time career or nothing. I'd find getting paid once a month (like all state workers do in MO) to be far more hassle then only working 19 hours a week.

I met a librarian the other day and asked her out on a date.  Maybe she can hook me up with some free books.

I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.
