I would be tempted, but I think I'd be so curious I'd have to keep reading. I'm hoping Snape lives and doesn't do some "redeemed character who subsequently sacrifices his life in an idiotic way" bs at the end.

Except for that she revealed someone was gonna die in the next book. That's the type of spoiler that no one can conceivably avoid.
Of course it is! Why? Because no one's saying WHO. If they can keep the WHO part a secret, they could've kept the fact that someone dies a secret as well. Publicity bait. They want it to make news and then get everyone to go out and make webpages and threads that keep Harry Potter on their minds as they try to guess. I don't think the fandom's died down or anything. I think a more than sufficient number of people would've gobbled up the next book without being lured in by the "buy me and see who dies" tactic done with Order of the Phoenix. Weakness!
I don't want to imagine the earthquake of spasms around the world should Rowling die before finishing her books. Maybe she keeps notes and someone else could finish it....
