Skunk Fu!
« on: Sep 01, 2007, 11:50:55 PM »
A show made in Ireland coming to Kids WB this fall.  I have to say it looks kinda adorable.  Don't really care for the <a href="
>rap song opener[/url], but whatever.  Since the signal for the affiliate that carries CW is so shitty, I'm stuck not being able to actually chell it out unless it comes out on DVD sometime soon.

Official site.
Here's the blog for it.

I think I'm also glad to see something around that isn't anime and doesn't center around a dumb, useless kid in a new world/with wonderful new powets/or something else to that extent.  And it has ninja monkeys.  It's hard to go wrong with monkeys.  (Unless they're like, Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys, but even in its short life-span that show was still relatively decent.)  Yeah, little animals doing martial arts is nothing new but I don't know how you can manage to make anything worse than Ying Yang Yo anyway.  I suppose it remains to be seen.

As for the rest of Kids WB's lineup, I don't think I'd be watching any of it even if I did get CW.  I may have checked out Eon/Iron Kid just for the sake of curiousity.  And Johnny Test is actually a decent show from what I've seen of it, it just never interested me enough to make me care.

4KidsTV looks about as shitty as it ever did.  As it is, Sonic is the only thing I find remotely watchable.  Blarg.

4kids seems to specialize in making shitty games that revolve around fighting with card decks and virtual monsters.

For about one season they've had that "Chaotic" show, which evidently involves scanning real monsters in the real world (why are there monsters?), and then fighting as the monsters in a virtual arena.

Yugioh has a new series out as well. It has talking monsters. Yay. The first episodes did not impress me. Pegasus makes a 5 minute appearance, and I don't know if he was like this in the old series, but he sounds like a fag.

And then there's some dinosaur show which involves... guess what?.... cards... of dinosaurs, which then fight.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Im sick of the card game shows.  Yugi oh GX is more like a technical lesson on how to play the game than a cartoon show. "Did you forget I had Skull Castle on the field? This card allows me to BLAH BLAH BLAH"

"Oh ho! But you forgot I had steaming dog pile in play! This negates Skull castle and takes 50 life points from my opponent converting them to attack points for every poop monster on the field and negating all traps!"

Captain Simian and the Space Monkey's was AWESOME, as was Phantom 2040. Talk about a long Plot....

Now what is this Eon/ Iron Kid thing?

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

I don't really know myself.  It has a Wikipedia entry, but if I had the channel, I may have checked it out on premiere week out of mere curiousity.

I have no idea what 4Kids could be thinking with all of those similar shows.  Admittedly I enjoyed Yugioh!, but hells yeah it can get old quickly.  I've tried watching Chaotic and what a steaming pile that was.  I may have been able to forgive the animation if there was any plot, smart dialogue, or at least some damn voice talent.  The thing is completely flat.

Yugioh! GX is a little more watchable than Chaotic, but that doesn't really say a lot.  4Kids seems to like the idea of setting itself to fall flat on its ass.

Is it still doing that Ninja Turtles Fast Forward crap? I could Tolerate that show before the entire "Future" Angle.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

Last I knew, yes.  Although I remember reading that they were gonna change the show again to tie it into the movie.
