Radical Christians brainwashing gullible youth!
« on: Aug 20, 2007, 04:55:28 PM »
Teenage holy war

In case you aren't going to read this, let me summarize it. This fundy is brainwashing kids at a young age (usually tweens) into an agressive holy war against American culture. He basically goes at these kids when they're young, gullible, and easily fooled by lies, and makes them little fundy warriors.

First you have those places where they send gay teens to be brainwashed and tortured by fundies, and now this? This whole nation is ruled by radical christians, including Bush and Co. And while these radicals describe terrorists and muslums to be the great threat to the world, it is really they who are the true threat. Radical Christianity is the greatest evil the world has ever seen, and it's enough to make me go atheist. So my holy war is against nutjobs like these who poison our youth and destroy their minds. How dare you use children in your insane religious crusades. Fuck you!

Also, I'm a proud supporter of the Unicorn Museum (which is a spoof of the Creationist Museum).
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

What do you expect from a country that was founded by people who wore all black with buckles on their hats?

Interesting you said that when I listened to a professor last month lecture about how religion wasn't a huge part of the Constitution and that this country is becoming progressively "godified" from what the founders intended.  Of course he was talking to a bunch of incoming freshmen, most of them aren't huge fans of God anyway.

First of all, what in that article is threatening to you as an atheist?  "Aggressive holy war"?  What the hell?  It's not exactly al-Quaeda, here.  You think this group's going to take up arms against you?  "Radical Christianity is the greatest evil the world has ever seen"?  Are you a deuced imbecile?  The only threatening form of "Christianity" was medieval Catholicism, and about the only evil the system is able to foist on the world today is telling people in third-world countries not to use rubbers.  Oh my damns, hide the silverware, y'all!

My problem is that this guy seems to be using worldliness to appeal to kids he's warning about worldliness.  "Write MTV to tell them how bad we think they are while you listen to our 'Christianized' rip-offs and shake your booty like everybody else!"  While it's one thing to comment on how bad everything is, but not teaching kids how to deal with the real world is irresponsible.  His theology seems to be at variance with accepted Christian doctrine, with his insistence on an in-your-face religiosity ("I send you forth as lambs among wolves," according to Jesus in Luke 10:3) and a retake-the-culture mentality (no example or mandate to cite from Scripture, so why advocate it?), so he's hardly fundamentalist in his teachings.  Fundamentalist Christianity != radical Christianity (whatever that's supposed to mean, anyway).

By the same token, Rolling Stone caters toward the exact opposite of what this groups opposes, and by the tone of the writing, I'm hesitant to simply accept it as objective journalism.  Based on what I read, though, I wouldn't be sending my hypothetical kid to this, nor recommending it to my church's youth group.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

All right, now that I've offended Squirrel's religious sensibilities....

You call me athiest but you forget I'm Christian as well, just liberal Christian. I have no problems with moderate christians who actually DO things to make the world a better place, like feeding and clothing the poor and giving them shelter. I just hate the radical elements of Christianity.

I also agree with this guy that media has gone too far with sex and drugs and violence on TV and movies. The media does it because it makes money. I also agree that kids need to be taught early that drugs and gangs and violence is wrong, and that waiting for sex is good, and if they can't wait, they should use good protection. I also agree that MTV sucks.

This guy is brainwashing kids though. He's hitting kids when they're the most confused and easily influenced. There's a reason pre-teens and teens join gangs.. to be a part of something. So he's creating his own "gang" of angry teens. He uses things like fireworks and loud rock music and everything teens think are "cool", and the only reason they're joining this crusade of his is because it's "cool" and it makes them feel like they're a part of something... tapping that desire that all teens have to belong to something.

I'll quote a bunch of reasons why this is retarded and possibly dangerous:

Quote
They dance -- hip-hop, tap, toe and pelvic thrusting.
When did hip-hop and pelvic thrusting become normal Christian activities?

Quote
His Christian code requires a "wartime mentality": a "survival orientation" and a readiness to face "real enemies." The queers and communists, feminists and Muslims, to be sure
Wartime mentality? It makes it sound like he's getting these kids ready for violence. And I don't think I need to tell you that Jesus doesn't believe in confrontation and violence.

Also, apparently, like most fundies, he hates gays, communists, feminists, and Muslims. And he's getting kids to feel the same way, when they should be taught love and kindness. :-\

Quote
"The devil hates us," he exhorts, "and we gotta be ready to fight and not be these passive little lukewarm, namby-pamby, kum-ba-yah, thumb-sucking babies that call themselves Christians. Jesus? He got mad!" Luce considers most evangelicals too soft, too ready to pass off as piety their preference for a bland suburban lifestyle. He hates what he sees as the weakness of "accepting" Christ, of "trusting" the Lord. "I want an attacking church!" he shouts, his normally smooth tones raw and desperate and alarming. He isn't just looking for followers -- he wants "stalkers" who'll bring a criminal passion to their pursuit of godliness.

"Stalkers"?
"Criminal"?
"Attacking Church"?
Once again, he seems to be rallying teens to get angry and mad. Jesus got mad? Jesus may have been stern and assertive, but He never got mad. The point of Christianity is to accept and trust Christ, and he's almost acting like Fred Phelps here when he's attacking the rest of Christianity, calling them weak and pussies. The Church does NOT "attack".

Quote
Cue Christian metal
Christian metal was spawned from normal metal (and is a shitty subsitute) to try to get people who like metal to listen to something more wholesome. And it spawned from the media that this guy hates so much. So you're using the mass media you're against to convert these kids? Good job!  :headbang:

"Yea, we hate the rock & roll decadence of MTV, so let's fight for Jesus by listening to this Christian Metal!" Lololololol

Quote
In the hall outside the arena, kids line up to buy BattleCry T-shirts and hoodies and trucker caps, a dozen designs scrolled with goth and skater patterns.

Wearing Goth and Skater stuff for Jesus! Hell yea!  :eyes: Once again appealing to the teenagers by using what they think is "cool" to get them into the whole fight.

Quote
"Dear MTV," she [a 12 year old] reads aloud, "leave those kids alone!" Then she adds a kicker: "Repent." I ask her what she means. She giggles as if I'm teasing her. "Ron Luce said so!"

So you're only doing this because Ron Luce said so? You can't make your own informed decisions? You can't do this because you believe in it, or because you think it's a good idea? You're only doing it because someone else tells you to?  ::)

Quote
Luce recruits the politically powerless -- kids too young to vote.
The politically powerless and the most easy to emotionally manipulate.

Quote
a commitment to laissez-faire capitalism
I bet those kids have no idea what Laissez-faire is. (for those who don't here, it's a type of capitalistic idea where the government does not interfere with the economy or market, free reign economy in other words)

Quote
you have to know that his antagonism toward secularism is dwarfed by a contempt bordering on hatred for what he dubs "cultural Christians." He considers them traitors.

More Fred Phelps-style hatred towards mainstream Christianity.

Quote
They cast into perdition Starbucks (multiple votes),
Something I honestly would love to see gotten rid of.

Quote
cereal (Special K and Cap'n Crunch), hip-huggers, "smelling amazing," "vengeance," "medication" and A&W root beer. "I would say it's ridiculous what they are doing to root beer," wrote the boy who will drink A&W no more.
Cereal? Smelling Amazing? Root Beer? Teh fuck?

Quote
"This is a real war," Luce preaches. When he talks like that, he growls. "This is not a metaphor!" In Cleveland, he intercuts his sermons with videos of suicide bombers and marching Christian teens.
Ah yes, teach the kids to go blow themselves up to solve problems.

Quote
here's an unnamed girl who left Jesus and then "got date raped." There's "Emily," who dated a non-Christian boy -- "now she works in pornography and lives a bisexual lifestyle."

Ah yes, leaving Jesus means you automatically get raped. And dating non-christians means you automatically go work in porno. Awesome!

I'm sad to see P.O.D was a part of this... they're a part of the Hollywood that these guys hate.

Also, this guy hates pr0n. So he's automatically my enemy. :)

Frankly, I'll always have extreme dislike for the extreme sides of Christianity, especially the fundamentalists, neocons, and radicals. And I still see them as being an extreme danger to society. Look at what happens when fundamentalism is allowed to roam free in Muslim countries. You want that happening here? It's entirely possible in the future for radical or fundamentalist Christianity to become as bad as the Taliban, Iran, or al Queda.

And where the hell is Bernie? She'd love to get in on this stuff.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I've been too blown away lately by Michael Vick being a "victim of white supremist attitudes" and parents of newborns being advised to leave something important in the car seat like a wallet or a cell phone so they don't forget they have a baby and leave it to fry.  I can't take any more loonies this week whilst in the throws of the latest office pestilence, which I finally caught.  If I feel like sitting up tomorrow, I'll read it from home. :sars:
Tortures end me,
Death befriends me.
Of all the pains, the greatest pain
is to love, and love in vain.

Jamie Foxx defending Vick made me sick, but then I never did like Jamie foxx.   I'd kill him just for the experience points.

Thank you!  I've been itching for years for a reason to not like Jamie Foxx other than the fact that he just plain annoys me.

Actor says QB ‘didn’t read his handbook on what not to do as a black star’

Quote
“It’s a cultural thing, I think,” Foxx said. “Most brothers didn’t know that, you know. I used to see dogs fighting in the neighborhood all the time. I didn’t know that was Fed time. So, Mike probably just didn’t read his handbook on what not to do as a black star.”

Oh, so if it was not Fed time, and say 90 months in jail, it would be okay, right? Because it's a cultural thing, and it's a part of black culture to fight dogs, and by making it illegal, we're being racist against their culture?

There's a handbook on what black people shouldn't do if they're famous? Maybe we need to give all the gangsta rappers that handbook as well.

Vick is scheduled to appear next Monday in U.S. District Court in Richmond, Va. According to reports, the recommended sentencing range will be from 12 to 18 months in prison.

Boo!! not long enough!
