You're too whiny for metal.  You should try joining Fall Out Boy.  We all know how much you'd love whining on stage with eye-liner on.

Also, I'm not sure anyone in the metal community would take you seriously knowing that you're a Pomeranian enthusiast.

!

I think the kind of pissed off you need for metal is probably a tad different from "they booted me off the computer and now I have to buy extra gas".

And that shoe thing pisses me.  I hate when ppl don't pay attention to shit and fuck things up as a result.

Tell me about it.  The perfect pair of summer sandals; 1.5 inch heel so they were dressy enough for work and casual enough for afterward. Good quality animal-part-free, perfectly broken in so the skinny straps didn't hurt the top of my foot AND they were on sale when I bought them last year.  I get pissed anew every time I think about it.   And male personages, believe me, breaking in skinny-strap sandals is not a good time.

I hate humidity.  Seriously, stop fucking with my hair.  I'm moving to the desert, my hair looked good in Vegas.

I hate humidity too, but not because of what it does to my hair.

I bought the perfect pair of heels in June but then my puppy chewed them up.  $35 gone to waste.  =(

Why do we only hurt the shoes we love?  :'(

Major annoyance this time of year:  hurricane hysteria.   Resident hurricane "expert" Dr. Neil Frank on our CBS affiliate was so happy with not one but TWO storms to hype last night he was practically bouncing in front of the fucking map like Malfoy as a ferret.   Erin gave us a lovely dark morning, spectacular lightning and some flooded streets; nothing any different from most of the the past eight weeks or so, but people actually stayed home from work today, thanks to the media predicting Armageddon Lite.  ::)

I changed the topic so Bonr Boy doesn't sue us. :P

Don't make my BONR angry.  You wouldn't like it when its angry, even though it doesn't actually turn green.

Major annoyance this time of year:  hurricane hysteria.

I know what you mean.  I think it's funny how the prognosticators were pronouncing 2006 as the worst hurricane year on record, and it was a total pussycat.  And this year's been very quiet.

However, I understand the desire on the part of broadcasters to scare everyone to death.  Scaring everyone beats not scaring them and them getting killed because they didn't respect the weather coming their way.  We had people get killed by tornadoes within a few days' time, and the local radio and TV stations caught lots of flack over it.  So when I'm on the air, and there's any yellow on the in-studio radar, I call the program director to see if storm watchers will be called in.  And if there's red and purple on there, get ready for a steady dose of forecasts and advisories to pump onto the airwaves.  It beats being accused of contributing to the deaths of dummies who can't read conditions for themselves.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

You mean in between the doors where someone can stand there and peek at j00?  I always get a long line of toilet paper, bunch up the end and cram it into the gaps like two long thin curtains.

Hmm I never thought of that...

It's brilliant in its simplicity, but I wonder if that would attract undue attention in the men's room.

I'd like a reasonable balance.  What you say is true, but after too many reports that get people running around like headless chickens come to naught, folks gets less inclined to pay attention when there really is something to worry about.  Neil Frank is a piece of work - when the Houston Press did the Hurricane Bingo card last year, they included a square that reads "Dr. Neil Frank sports notable erection discussing chances of Houston being hit".  I got the "plastic water jugs" and "scary vid from Katrina" squares last night!  ;D  http://www.houstonpress.com/art/media/feature-bingo.pdf

We're staying put for Dean.  Gas in the elevated Jeep, may leave my Toyota in the garage at work.  Cash on hand, food/water, beer & wine, battery-powered fans & lanterns, store the patio furniture & plants; may board some windows depending on where it's predicted to land.  Now that we've got the problems that sent us to my brother's house during Rita fixed like the ancient roof, bad windows and dead/dying trees removed, there's no way we're getting into any type of evacuation madness.  Besides, we're not in a surge zone.  Leave the roads & hotel rooms open for people who live on the coast - it's the least I can do for the charming denizens who make our weekend trips fun.

Maybe if you're draping them on either side of the urinal.  Then again, the venue where I bartended the most had one men's room with a urinal and one stall with no door - what's the point of that?

How would it attract attention?  They should only be able to tell if they're peeking in at you.  You bunch it up only at the top, cram it in the slot, and let the rest of it trail down to cover whatever else.

Yeah, with no door you're gonna need a lot of toilet paper.

The satellite photo was full of little cottony tails.  ;D

If Dean continues on present course, it's good for us, but bad for the Valley & Mexico.  Just the same, I'm getting some Progresso clam chowder and Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies.  I can't possibly face a storm siege without them.

My take on it is this: nobody's gonna be able to write a letter to the local paper accusing me of not letting them know there was bad weather on the way while I was on the air.  Then again, I'm no meteorologist; all I give is what comes in from the NOAA/NWS and what I see on the radar at the time, and I make quick work of that, and throw on the music.  But if it's looking nasty, I'm going to repeat it between at least every other song.

I keep calling Hurricane Dean "Hurricane Deano".  Just the same, I kinda want it to rain to the point that the school's close, if only because I'm not looking forward to it at the moment and want my vacation to last a little longer.  I swear, we've been flooding worse and worse this year.  I asked Merla what she thought of it, and her first words were about the stream of development here.  Makes sense.  No trees and plants, nothing to stop the water from rushing everywhere.  Things are getting flooded that don't usually get flooded, so I'm feeling a little worried.

Why? Does it keep staggering back and forth while stopping from time to time to tell Jerrry Lewis to shut the fuck up?

This is a very wise course of action for a tornado or flash flood warning.  What I'm objecting to is the bad news ratings war the local stations get into to keep viewers for a developing story over a week to 10 days.  For example, the storm is predicted to end up in Northern Mexico - all the weather gurus agree on that now because of the system of high pressure currently blanketing our area of the Gulf.  That's not gonna move without another front pushing it out, and none are developing in time to do that.   There is a chance, depending on how the Yucatan steers the storm, that residents in Texas border towns, some of which live in horribly poverty-stricken colonias or in trailer parks, could be affected by wind gusts and rain, since the eastern side of a hurricane is the "dirty" side.  Good common sense - the state is concerned.  However, one TV station (the one that employs Dr. Hurricane Boner) chooses to run this headline on its website:

FEMA to Texans: Prepare to evacuate

Yes, strictly speaking, these residents are Texans, and the article does mention that buses were readied to deploy from San Antonio earlier in the week when no one was sure where the storm was headed.   This doesn't need a headline implying that FEMA is predicting that the state needs to migrate north.
Hurricanes are answerable to the laws of nature and follow the path of least resistance.  Even though hurricanes do have names, they are not thinking entities and are not subject to mood swings.  ::)

Annoyance rather than wrath, but this is something a local news station started doing every night.

11 o'clock news starts with a reporter standing on the corner of a high-middle-class street: "It's 11 o'clock, do you know where your children are?"

First time I saw it I thought they were going to have a story on a kidnapping. Then I saw it the next night.
And the next.

Every single night, they start the news, not by saying "breaking news!", but by playing that stupid clip that makes it seem as if a bunch of kids were missing or kidnapped.

Yes, I know where my kids are. I sold them into slavery for thousands of dollars.

If a Ipod was caught in the aftermath wave of the wrath of God, it's entire playlist would consist of nothing but "You're Beautiful"" by James Blunt and you couldn't delete it.

Saved from page 2! (ok, so maybe not as big as being saved from page 10, but I think page 10 would be 2 years ago or something)

I have no idea why they did this, but in one computer lab, they disabled the sound cards on every single computer. And since I can't afford broadband at home, I come in here for anime and youtube and stuff. And now I can't even do it right now, which is the reason I'm here at the lab!

I have to report a problem with all the macs around here, so I may find someone to bitch about this as well. It doesn't make a lot of sense to take away the sound on computers unless it was too many people playing loud rap music.

That's funny, I was having sound problems at school, too.  I couldn't play music from Myspace and Trig.  I figured the lab decided to be bitches, but then I played around with the recording and volume controls and eventually got music.  Also, the printers at the school now seem determined to hate me.

Gah, now I really have a reason to bitch at the lab staff.

Everyone I've talked to say, in order to get Japanese characters for windows, you go into control panel, Regional & Language Settings, and then select Japanese from the list.

Well, in all the computers, Japanese isn't there, and then I'm told I have to chell the "Install files for East Asia Languages" box in order to set it up. And then it asks me for the Windows XP CD.

So obviously there's no Japanese on these computers, unless there's another way to do it. I'll have to wait until Monday to ask other students how they do it.

Clicked the box checked "Install files for East Asia Languages" and not needed a disk? Teh hell?

Well, I've tried every computer lab in the entire campus and gotten the same thing. No ability to type in Japanese. Bitch-slapping of school computer staff will commence tomorrow. Until then, since this stupid thing is asking for the WinXP SP2 cd, and my only copy of the SP2 cd is at my grandparents and they're on vacation, I'll just download the damn SP2 cd and burn a copy.
