A river runs through it.
« on: Jul 24, 2007, 06:25:45 PM »
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIINN!!!!

This is in front of our house.  The water starts and stops literally right where the first picture begins and the last picture ends.  Up the street on either side is fine.

I'll post a picture of our back yard after Eddie downloads the card this weekend for the T-shirt blowout.  The patio is submerged, and water is lapping against the deck.  :-\  Our rat terrier & Eskie will go through the water to get to higher grass, but the two Lab mixes hate it - some sporting dogs.  They mince around like skirt-holding Victorian ladies.

Gotta love the red, white, and blue tow truck.

At first I thought there was some business to be done over there, but that tow truck's been there for a while now. Those are the assholes that abuse their dogs by leaving them outside in adverse conditions and don't give them water.  I suppose the second issue's momentarily solved at present.

Don't tell me they're chained.  I'll have to drive over there with the bolt cutters.  >:(

Wow, now you have a wading pool in your front yard.

Though, you think it's bad down there, chell out footage of the UK a couple days ago. Britian became a giant swimming pool. Half-blood will be shot entirely underwater.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Last night I was watching Conan and trying to figure out how much money I spend on stuff, to write out a budget. It was storming outside. Suddenly there was a bright flash, a loud crash, and I found my back touching the ceiling. Lightning hit a tree right out the window.

Ever since then it's been raining. Better buy a rowboat.

I blame global warming. Gore was right! He's from the future, after all... he knows!

I don't think it's "bad", it's just a little odd having a pond in front of the house and the neighbors a few houses down are fine and dandy.  It's the city's fault for not de-weeding the drainage ditch.  How's anything suppose to get through that jungle, I don't know.  There's a lot of people in this city alone who have it worse than me.  Some of them I have the need to slap though.

There was this one family on the news with no flood insurance talking about this is the fifth time they've been flooded and how all their stuff's ruined.  "We needs ta git new tahl.  We needs a new flah.  We woke up t'day wit water to ahr ankuls.  Teh dawgs was swimmin in teh backyard; they almost dah-rowned!"

I'm probably riding shotgun on the bus to Hell for laughing at some of the flooded-out people after Katrina who had grills and 2-3 giant gold dookie chains on, but oddly enough, a lot of the city is NOT located in a flood zone.  People not in a flood zone can get $100K on the house and $40K on the contents for $263 A YEAR.   If bling is more important to some people than providing a means for them and their families to get back on their feet after a disaster, sorry - I have less than zero sympathy.  For someone who's been flooded multiple times, it won't be as cheap, but it's still a hell of a lot less than trying to replace everything.

I mean, I understand if maybe you've been flooded before but it's your home and you can't really afford to move elsewhere but at least get some damn flood insurance.  Those people aren't gonna convince me no insurance is cheaper than replacing their floors all five times.

Update for the lurker: the overgrown drainage ditch now has ticks.  The ticks ate the dogs.  The neighbors solved this problem... by getting a new dog.  *headdesk*

Hahahahaha, Texas.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

Our neighbors don't take care of their dogs either. I actually think they left and left one of their dogs behind to be honest. All I know is that I inherited a wiener dog. Been feeding and watering it for couple weeks now. But now he has disappeared. Hard to believe he'd go home, so I'm starting to wonder he got hit by car. Been checking the ditches around here, but as of yet nothing. Might never know what happened to him.

Do you have some birds of prey over there?  My dad says eagles or whatever sometimes carry off small pets where he lives.

Not big enough to get this guy. Biggest bird in large numbers in these parts are Vultures and they don't bother with living things. We do have cougars and Coyotes though, which could have got him, but I think the most likely culprit was a car. I've lost a lot of pets over the years and most where to cars. Only one has ever been killed by another animal. Two had to be put down, the rest got hit by cars.

Thread necro?

Oh I forgot to post this, but the neighbors dog just showed up again. He had been groomed and was wearing a new flea collar. No idea where he went, but someone was taking care of him.

It rained kinda hard and then the rain just went away.  Boo hoo.  It didn't even get floody like those pics in my original post.

Update for the lurker: the overgrown drainage ditch now has ticks.  The ticks ate the dogs.  The neighbors solved this problem... by getting a new dog.  *headdesk*

I have an update, too.  The new dog died a couple weeks or so back.  Poor fellow.  He was cute too so that makes it, like, double-sad or some shit.
