My engine started making a metal grinding sound like some bearing in it was getting worn and about to break, so I took it to a friend who works on cars. He said it was the belt tensioner, which is a spring-loaded pulley that keeps the car's belt tight. This repair would cost under $200.
However, I had another guy inspect it, and he was able to actually diagnose it as the pulley that runs the AC compressor. So the entire AC compressor will have to be replaced.
This will cost me $750.
He said it will last a while and I won't have to worry about it. It's hard not to worry about it when it makes a large grinding sound occasionally. My car now turns heads, and it's not the sound system!
Who knows if the AC pulley will go out and cause the belt to fall off.
Of course, the other option is to shell out that $750 to fix the AC system when it's getting cold up here and I don't need any fucking AC for my car to run. If I had the choice I'd just rip the AC out of the car and say fuck it all.
I just don't see why it's important to fix the AC to keep the car running.
Like I said, fuck cars. They're too damn expensive nowadays, and I think the guys designing cars for the Big Three are a bunch of monkeys. I should just walk to where ever I need to go.
