I just rented both At World's End and Order of the Peniseses: The Hairy Frotter porno flick. Both left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Having watched the second Pirates a while ago I forgot what had exactly happened in the movie besides the fact that Davey Jones was running amok, and Jack had a jar of dirt and ended up dying in the gullet of a giant monster.

Which may have made this movie more confusing. But I think it was just confusing anyway.

Annoyances:

  • Why oh why did they have to bring back Barbossa? More money? I'm not saying I hated his character, but when someone's dead, they're supposed to STAY dead. And of course they use some lame ass excuse that Voodo girl brought him back to life, but can't bring Jack back to life (supposedly because Jones cursed him), so they have to go over the edge of the world (WTF?!) to the underworld to fetch Jack.
  • What's with the edge of the world crap?
  • Will Turner's an asshole. Betraying his own girl and all the pirates just so he can rescue his father in a rather ill conceived attempt to get the Black Pearl and go after Jones (and what will he do when he finds Jones? ask him to hand over Bootstrap Bill?)
  • Speaking of betrayal, why the hell is everyone double crossing everyone else? There's so many double-crosses in this damn movie it's impossible to figure out who's really working for who. It just makes the movie way too complex.
  • You have two huge armadas, one by all the pirates, and one by the British navy working for the trade company. And they never fight. I would have expected this massive battle to end all battles, but the only ships that fight are the Pearl and Jones' ship.
  • The end was the worst. Poor Will has to be the next Davy Jones, which means he only gets to be with Elizabeth once every 10 years. Waiting 10 years for sex? Hell, I'd rather be a Vulcan and wait 7 years than wait 10 years.
  • oh yea, and no explanation for all the little Jack's running around in the Locker, unless either he's going crazy or those are facets of his personality. Or he's just high.

It could have been a better movie, but the lack of massive sea battles and not being able to sort through the tangled mess of plot lines really made this a ho-hum movie.

I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

No more POTC movies. They said there'd be three, they need to leave it at three. Any more than that would get old and boring and stupid, and I really don't want some of my favorite movies to turn into Land Before Time.

I would like to see a Jack Sparrow movie where he interacts with other characters.  I don't really care for anyone else in the movies to return.

And I thought Will only had to wait the first ten years and the curse would be broken because Elizabeth waited for him.

That 10 years out thing is sappy bullcrap perpetuated by fangirls.  I made many diatribes about this on youtube.

So Will can only return to Elizabeth every ten years for all eternity?  I thought the green light or whatever after the credits was supposed to mean the curse was broken.

The Dutchman has to have a captain.  Those souls aren't going to ferry themselves to the underworld.  Also, I thought green light just meant someone had crossed over from the underworld.

Maybe some other sucker has to take the reigns.  I'm certain I read an interview where the film makers said the green light broke the curse, which I would link except 1) I read it a long time ago so I don't know where it was or with whom it was conducted and 2) I don't want to spend the time looking for it again.

Yeah the writers wanted that curse to break but they didn't supply enough plot.  There is nothing to back up the "poor sucker takes the reigns" theory.  The canon stands regardless of their dues ex crapina intentions.

We've already been over this actually

What green light!??!! I never saw a green light anywhere!
And yeah Nuri, the only way Will can get rid of the curse is, I think, when he dies and someone else grabs it for him

The green light meant someone from OOTP jumped over & AK'd him to cut the sequel competition.

The Dutchman has to have a captain.  Those souls aren't going to ferry themselves to the underworld.  Also, I thought green light just meant someone had crossed over from the underworld.

Which is strange,  because while Davey was off killing pirates, the dead seemed perfectly capable of escorting themselves to the underworld, including Liz's father.

I don't think they were making it to where they were supposed to be.  Thats the seen where calypso was all "captain Douche has been neglecting his duties".
