I can see how you people with actual seasons might like summer, but here it just goes from semi-pleasant/sometimes hot to scorching. On top of that, kids are out of school, tourists are swarming all over the place, and I get a year older. I only hate Decembers more than the Summer.
I'm majorly bummed because three of my classes have hard-ass professors. I don't know how to describe them best without going on a multi-page tirade but here's a sample to give you an idea.
Professor #A, Nazi-rella, who already assigns 10 hours of homework a week-- that's not an exagerration, it actually says so on the solutions she gives us the estimated time for completion-- gave us "professional development" on top of that. I blogged about this part on MySpace, you can read it if you're bored enough. Well Tuesday she passes around a sheet and says she wants us to commit to a due date for the stuff we have to turn in concerning this. So a few of us wrote three different due dates and someone asks "hey lady, when's the final day we can turn this stuff in". She answers April 10th. What the fuck? Just what the fuck did we have to fill out a sheet for if everything's due the 10th no matter what? She does a dozen things just like that.
The other prof. multiplies the homework by the test grade to get a test grade, which means if you don't complete the homework correctly, both grades suffer. He taught us some very interesting stuff about linear programming on Monday. Today was our test, so we were expected to take that difficult shit and learn how to apply it in two days to seven different scenarios. I took the time and got it down to about 90% accuracy, however because I spent my time figuring this shit out, I shitbombed two questions in his four-question test because I didn't have time to study stuff I already knew (because I actually did that part of the homework early). On top of that, he started talking about a project due Monday
during the test like an ass while we're still working. After the test, I talked to someone else about how she did and she did the opposite: She got to study and probably did decently on the test, but didn't do 1/4 of the homework meaning even if she got a hundred (which I doubt from the tone of her voice), it'll become a 75.
Meanwhile my fourth class is suffering because I have to take time away from doing stuff for that one to stay caught up on the others, so instead of getting an A or B on that test, I got a C. I feel kinda bad cause that prof is a nice guy, but he doesn't take attendance or do in-class work, so it's the only one I can miss without major penalty. =\
So today, I was in an OT54 class (Open Entry/Open Exit Office Technology. Typing. I'm an expert Typist, but I took it to get the Six Units...) And the teacher comes up to me and mentions some assignments that I messed up on. Formatting mistakes, so it's not really a big deal. She pulls me aside and starts going on about how I seem to like to do my own thing. Yeah I can get where she's coming from on that, but then she starts going on about a survey was taken about people who disarm bombs, and how ones that deviated from procedure get blown up, and the one's that followed don't, and then she started making battlefield metaphors where doing your own thing can save your entire unit or some shit, so it was okay like that.
I was looking at her like she was crazy and came very close to saying "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?", but I bit my tongue. Literally. To keep from saying it.
I'm filing a complaint tomorrow, and seeing about cutting down to two units as to pass this class by this time next week and NOT deal with her
